So, how about September? How about "SHOW RESCHEDULED DUE TO HEAT"?

I'm only speculating, but I think heat played a factor in the decision, since it was going to be an outside event from 2PM to 10PM. Ad to that, Bragg Jam is the following weekend, then the August 14 benefit at the Cox, and it may have just been too much, too soon. Looking forward to hearing about the new date.

Well, I was gonna post my suspicions but that's always gotten me into trouble here so I never hit the "submit" button.

Check out Red Dog's post on the Guest Book.

It was heat alright; heat from a freight train passing through.

I read what Reddog wrote about Butch and the Bighouse in the guestbook...don't think that has a bit to do w/ the cancellation of the July 24th benefit. I think Dave is on the right track w/ it being too much at once. You have two events w/ in a 3 week period to benefit Red Dog and the events are going to draw from each other and you're going to end up getting less attendance at each event. Obviously the idea is bring in money for Red Dog, so space them out a bit and bring in some more cash/financial relief.

If Butch is really concerned about cash and suing Kirk do you really think he is concerned about cancelling a benefit for Red Dog? Further he doesn't have any power to do so, he doesn't run the Big House. Even further do you think he is so spiteful that we would want to take cash for Red Dog's pocket when he is in need? This is a fairly ridiculous line of thought. If I am wrong I will apologize, but I find this very hard to believe.

Yes, he does and yes, I do. IMHO. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

I have no opinion one way or another on the Butch deal. I do have a question though. How it is that Brent came up with the idea for the benefit concert to begin with and somehow now, not only is he not spearheading this, he and his band isnít even a part of it now?

The event was being planned by friends and family in Macon, when spdb made his post. No announcement had been made, because nothing was firmed up, at that time.

I thought the Skydogs were going to play Sprang? They were listed on the bill. Damn I had to work and missed all the excitement I guess. I thought the benefit was just going to be rescheduled.

Yeah, Talton's band is pretty "alright." So sorry the event was cancelled. This is the first I heard of it. Hopefully there will be a rescheduled date soon.

Tommy pulls a pretty good slide himself! Also a great singer/songwriter! I never pass up a chance to see Tommy Talton!
