Afterthought edit: Will be checking on the status of the Fund later on this AM when Willie wakes up and I fill ya in later.

We've had plenty of bumping and grinding on the different threads about the benefits for our Augie Doggie. Consider this the dull break during a great rock 'n roll special on PBS when Cousin Brucie comes on and raves about who he used to be.

Willie Perkins is waiting by the computer for your donations (camera pans to shot of Willie sitting on his couch with his laptop, asleep). So far, he's only clocked in $1200. Come on folks. We can't offer you a Red Dog tote bag for $20, but we can offer you the good feeling that you've helped out a brother in need. For $50, we can't offer you a Red dog umbrella, but we can offer you the satisfaction of knowing that you've finally gotten the chance to spend some money and not wanted anything in return but someone's health. No, that donation won't get you tickets to a great concert ($50 won't get you tickets to any concert) but will be returned tenfold in Good Karma (camera pans to Rowland sitting at his desk removing Karma points).

How much money have we all spent over the years on tickets, airplane fares, hotels, meals, beers, etc. to spend an ecstatic evening with our favorite band in the entire world? Just imagine how hard Red Dog worked all those years, hauling equipment, setting up drum kits, tackling overanxious fans who have jumped on the stage, driving thousands and thousands of miles in rundown RV's for The Allman Brothers Band. Remember how generous he was being the sole support of the early band donating his Veterans' benefit checks so they could drink cheap beer and share one combination plate at Mama Louise's. Think of all the free meals Mama provided to the boys because she loved them, each and every one, personally and dearly and Red Dog was like one of her babies.

Give from your hearts, Peachheads. However much or however little you can afford. If you are planning on flying/driving/walking to Macon for the Cox Theater concert, you've got to have a little extra dough besides the minimal price of admission to donate to this Fund. No one can say for sure that what you pay for your ticket is even going to pay the expenses of the musicians, the theater and whatever else. There are a lot of people putting in a lot of work and personal time for free.

This has nothin' to do with sympathy, brothers and sisters, it's about GRATITUDE.

Please, GIVE IT UP FOR RED DOG.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Well, I've been holding out trying to decide how to help, and this thread was "the nudge". Thanks.

Look at all the superficial cr@p we blow money on, even in tight times. The Dog is worth living frugaly for a month if doing that helps a man live longer. Pretty simple really. Look how he lived in the trenches so we today could live like we do. Dirty, hungry, bullets whizzing by and comrades falling. We owe him, for that and the Brothers. I won't go into what they may owe him, that is their call and biz, but irony duly noted. We can't control beyond ourselves, and damn it, we owe the Doggie in a very large way.

Give it the heck up, with a smile and love. God will pay you back plenty, don't worry.

Lizzie this is written with such love and compassion , Thank You once again for stepping in and writing something we all can relate too in regards of helping a wonderful , kind , considerate brother of the Allman Brothers Band and a great man in general... His Mama , Duane and Berry are all smiling at how we are pulling together to help him find his way in this latest health scare in the family... We can all support a man who would never ask for this help, if he could find another way ... So in return for all his kind deeds , and doing them without ever expecting anything back... is a person that is to be admired and respected. He is in need , and I will happily contribute to Mr. Red Dog , Joseph... To fight this fight and to have treatments , in order for him to live out his life and stay with us as long as possible.. with the technology today, the diagnosis may have sounded grim, but if he can get the treatments he will need... he will be in better place and position to fight for his life . I have so much faith he can overcome...and he will "With alittle Help from his Friends" ....

I'll let y'all know tomorrow if Willie's computer woke him up with an outpouring of donations. This here Fund could be THE source for a huge part of what we collect for Red Dog. It'd be great to show up in Macon knowing that it's already in the bank and not have to wonder if the jam at the Big House and the Cox Theatre concerts turn a substantial profit.

Give it up brothers and sisters or we'll have to go to another break with Cousin Brucie.

Mr. William Perkins, the treasurer of Red Dog's fund, reports that he's collected only about $4,000 (there may be some checks in the mail).

For myself, I've decided not to spend the money (rather, to have someone spend the money on my behalf) to attend the concert at the Cox. The money is better spent going directly to the Dog. Rainy has decided to do the same.

Not to bash anybody going to the show(s). If you can afford to fork over a little extra cash directly to this Fund, it will go directly into Red Dog's pocket and that's where it should be.

Does this mean i don't have to lock the pool gates?

My reasons for going are two fold. Help the economy, and if i get a chance for a face to face with Auggie, let him know we are here to help support him. I especially want him to know there is hope around the corner, having been a survivor of throat cancer twice.......

also there might be some interesting things going up for the Silent Auction.......

well maybe it's more than two fold plus it about time to visit my sister in Ga........

Everyone please step and do whatever and whichever you can!
