Found these articles today.

"We're going to take a break for a few years," confirms the group's
namesake guitarist from his home in Jacksonville, Fla. "We're
not gigging at all this year, and possibly next year."

Derek is making a big mistake. Why stop a band that just won a grammy?

Had a long talk with Kofi. Everyone should get out and support all these fine musicians however we can get them! Everything is speculation... I have nothing but love, respect and support for anything and all they do!

Has anybody heard how Yonrico or Todd feel about this? Do you think they are still on good terms with what's going on?

I'm sure they are disappointed. How could they not be? They have played in a band for years, and the name and face of that band have moved on.

I'm waiting until I see Derek and Susan before I pass any judgments about the pros and cons of the decision for me as a fan, but to be honest, the new band looks very good.

With Derek, Oteil, and Kofi, how could this new line-up do anything other than be great? I like Susan's voice just as much if not more than that of Mike, and Mike will still be there anyway. I don't know the new drummer, so I can't say anything there. However, my prognosis is FAR from gloom and doom!

I don't get it. Why now? Might have something to do with contracts.
Sad news.

The new DT/ST band is overflowing with talent. There's no doubt about it. And no worries about the drums, as Tyler Greenwell is great, Johnson seems to be pretty good too. Oteil is one of my favorite musicians. Its a great band.

But this is a VERY different band than the dTb we've come to know and love. Like Soulstew, I feel that Susan is is showcased and Derek is not so much. Soulstew was pretty much a cover band. DT/ST band is focusing largely on their newly written material. This is all good. Just different. But not necessarily better. The new tunes don't knock my socks off and the two shows I saw in New Orleans last spring left me somewhat flat....and missing the dTb that I've come to appreciate so much.

I don't begrudge Derek his happiness. If this is what he has to do to have a happy home, he's got to do what he's got to do.

I'm just going to miss the soaring fusion jams that dTb has given me a couple of times per show, when Mike takes a break and the band just goes "out there." The new band has the talent to do the same. I just don't think they're going to go there. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

It seemed like the last 2 DTB studio albums went more and more into a song-oriented direction, with less instrumental explosions, so I'm not too surprised that Derek's live thing may be following suit.
However, I bet as DT/ST continue on, the jams will appear more and more. I hope so!

Thanks for so eloquently writing what I could not put into words....Couldn't agree more.

I really love the DT/ST band!
Have listened already more to this band than to the separate DT and ST bands.
Just a matter of personal taste, so please don't be offended

Hope they'll do some gigs in Europe!
And please some soundboards in their new website store ....
