I know quite a few people are coming to our fair city this weekend for Crossroads so I thought I would point out some events going on. I know some of this has been discussed in other threads but here are some highlights:

Thursday June 24

Sonny Landreth 8:00 PM Fitzgerald's

Blues Cruise 7:00 to 9:00 PM North Pier

Jimmy Vaughn 9:30 Buddy Guy's Legends - No advance ticket sales.

Friday, June 25

Albert Lee 9:00 PM Martyr's

Sonny Landreth S.P.A.C.E. (SOLD OUT)

Buddy Guy's Legends
12:00PM Lurrie Bell - They have a lunch show which has free admission. The Creole food is awesome!
6:00-7:30PM Scott Holt
8:00-9:00PM - Nublu Band
9:15-9:45PM - Marty Sammon and Tom Hambridge
10:15-10:45PM - Quinn Sullivan
11:00PM - Carlos Johnson

Saturday June 26

Buddy Guy's Legends
11:00AM Diamond Jim Greene
3:00PM Guy King
6:00PM Jimmy Johnson
9:30PM The Kinsey Report
11:00PM Bernard Allison

Sunday June 27

Dark Star Orchestra 7:30 PM Park West

Pay admission at B.L.U.E.S. and get into Kingston Mines free (across the street)

Of course, there are several blues (and other music) clubs in the city. The Back Porch Stage at the House of Blues (where lefty plays) is open all weekend among others. Legends moved into the new location two weeks ago so it wouldn't surprise me if some of the Crossroads participants showed up there over the weekend to check it out. I may have missed a thing or two but feel free to contact me if anyone has questions about music or other things in the city.

James Burton was also confirmed in the last couple of hours.

Martyrs has a popular rockabilly show once a month. Given the fan base for this club, there is a good chance this show will now sell out quickly-get your tickets while you can!

You want to know what I'm doing for Crossroads weekend? Going to Crossroads. Oh, and joining the group at Julies for a nice early dinner on Friday, see many friends, then go home and rest up for a loooooooong day on Saturday. I look forward to seeing many of you this weekend.

I'm really on the fence about Martyr's. I want to be ready for Saturday, but I want to grab as much as I can while I'm there.

Are there places in the concourse to sit and consume beverages?

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Bloody Mary's and Stoli Lemonaide in parking lot before show but I'm seeing LOT's of water in my future during my hours inside the venue.

I did the math and factoring age and number of hours I'll be on my feet Saturday I'm not seeing a post TOP show ... not to say I'll be immediately heading back to the motel ... just don't see myself doing late night partying on Friday (GA tix here ... must preserve energy).

I agree, that's a tough one. I would really love to see Albert at a small club. But I figured out a compromise for myself. I'm going to go see Sonny Landreth at Fitzgeralds on Thursday, take it easy on Friday, and see the show of a lifetime on Saturday. Sunday- poolside and relaxing. What a way to round out my first 50 years on this planet.

That may be the wisest plan. Crossroads made for a long hot day last time around.

Shows at Martyrs don't usually run all that late, but if you are thinking about going to Legends, or another Chicago blues bar, many shows run very late (2:00 a.m. +), so keep that in mind when planning out your pacing for the weekend.

A salsa reference in a thread Lee started.

Things really have a way of coming full circle, don't they?

That'll be one of the things we do on Friday. Explain that reference to the newbies.

Well, we can drop you off at the course at the end of the day on Saturday. Then Sunday morning you can just roll out from under a bush, ready to play.
