Hey gang -

For those of you that are coming to Chicago for Clapton's Crossroads Festival, Albert Lee is playing my favorite club on Friday, June 25th. Martyr's at 3855 N. Lincoln Ave, not too terribly far from Wrigley on the north side if you know the area. It's a hike from where Crossroads is but if you are staying anywhere in the city, it's very doable.

It's being advertised as with "Special Surprise Guests" so you'll never know who might show. This place is awesome. Mule and the dTb played here before they were well known. I'm seeing Grace Potter there the weekend before.

Check it out:

Perhaps it's time to do some pre-show party planning. I know a buncha folks were thinking about Peruvian food at my place for dinner on Friday. It would be my pleasure to have all my peachy friends stop in. We can make it late afternoon early evening and still catch this show. We are easy to reach via public transportation from downtown and not too far from this club.

Hi Julie!

Yes, a number of us are pretty interested in eating at your place if the logistics can be worked out. Some of us are staying in Oak Brook and others further south by Midway (closer to the Crossroads show).

Bearing in mind Chicago traffic on a Friday afternoon, what time approximately would folks staying those areas have to leave in order to eat at your place that evening?

That I know of, Lolasdeb and several friends, Kitty (and three others) and Michaelsio & his wife, Sandman, AlanWoods and myself are all seriously thinking about Fri evening at your place.

There may be others that read this that may be interested too.

Us non-Cheecagoans are just trying to determine if all things will work time-wise. I think many might be interested in the Albert Lee show later on also.

So it's Albert Lee. I'm staying near at the Marriott Midway, which is probably kind of far away, but will see what my family will put up with. Definitely want to have dinner at A Taste of Peru if at all possible. I'd love to go see Albert Lee.

And, does Taste of Peru serve hotdogs with ketchup on them?

I hear that's a Chicago tradition.

Thanks for the heads-up. I assume there maybe be some guitar slinger over
at Buddy Guy's place as well. I think Jimmy Vaughn is at the Hard Rock Fri.
Don't quote me on that.

May I suggest a late afternoon, say 4 o'clock dinner at my place? I'm up north but easy to reach via public transportation. Actually pretty much anything in Chicago is easy to reach via public transportation. We have off street parking also. That time of day traffic would be easy from just about anywhere around the city. My dinner crowd hits at about 7 so we could pretty much have the place to ourselves for a leisurely feast. We are a byob and the liquor store down the street carriers peruvian beer, wine, and pisco. We could be done by 7 and on our way downtown or Lincoln Avenue to the clubs with full bellies for a night of music.

It's Thursday at Legend's. Can't get tickets in advance for whatever reason. Just show up at the door. But $40 a pop for a club show seems a bit extreme.

There are rarely acts that play at the Hard Rock.

Check in time at our hotel near Midway is 3:00 ish, which means we wouldn't be ready to leave until about 3:30 or so. Is there a way to get to your restaurant from there in a reasonable amount of time?

You can take the L from Midway, if Julie can tell us what stop is by her place. You might need to transfer to a different line, but it's easy and only costs $2.25 each way - with no traffic.......

We are by Loyola on the Red Line. Three stops before the end of the line at Howard. Think about an hour of so from Midway.

I think so, especially if you want to hit some clubs. Parking downtown can be expensive. I usually take the train places and cab home when it gets late.

Well, I can drive some out-of-towners around, especially if Taste of Peru is the destination.

I can fit me and three normal size folks, or me and four slim folks in my car, so I am at your service.

If a group of three or four need a ride from Oak Brook or anywhere else to Julie's place, and then to Martyr's or elsewhere afterward, I'd be happy to make myself available.

And, not to be a jerk - but this offer is for people I "know," like everyone who has posted in this thread. I made a similar offer a few months back and got a "thank you" from someone I had never even seen here on the site, so that freaked me out a bit.

Anyway - and this might influence your decision whether or not to use the TopDroog Rav4 w/a cracked windshield limousine service - but I plan to be in bed nice and early the evening before the crossroads festival, so this offer might be most appropriate for fellow early birds or folks that can make alternate arrangements for the return trip.

Let me know.

Alright time to fix the title and stop the slander to the greatest tele player ones ears and eyes will ever witness. Mr. Albert Lee simply the best.

I don't think Alvin Lee has ever held or played a tele other than a tele....phone.
