Seems like the NBA fan base has been dwindling but giving that I am a diehard Celtics fan I have still watched every playoff game religiously.
Not sure if anybody saw last night's game in Orlando but it made me realize why Football could be the only sport I can tolerate anymore.
Some people are sore losers and blame the refs, I am usually never that guy... until now. Don't get me wrong I believe the Celtics would have lost last nights game, deserved to lose that game either way, I just wish it was decided more on the floor by the players and less by the whistles. In all my years watching sports I have seen some bad calls but never so many consecutive bad calls that make you wonder the legitimacy of the game....
There are conspiracy theories, the NBA is hurting bad for cash, almost to a point where it needs to declare bankruptcy. I can understand why or if David Stern wants a good series to play out, to get ratings, to get sponsors etc. A sweep is never fun or exciting unless you are a fan of the team who is about to sweep. Overall it loses interest to the national audience immediately.
Just a few years ago referee Tim Donaghy was arrested and put in jail for rigging basketball games, that incident put a real blemish to the NBA, do i think he was the only one? no. Do I think it still goes on? absolutely. In a time where people already question the legitimacy of the game, I would hope the nba would do what it could to prove to the national audience that the game is true and there are no other influences to the game other than the players on the court. Last nights game was an abomination to that theory.
Like i mentioned earlier the Celtics would have lost either way, I just strongly feel the Eastern Conference finals should be decided by the players on the court not the jerks with the whistles.

Thank God football season is right around the corner.

Basketball has always been my favorite spectator sport and it will remain so. There is no other game where I worry about looking at my plate and forking up a bite of spaghetti because I may miss a steal and a slam dunk in doing so. I'll admit that the NBA can get boring during the regular season, but there is nothing else so fast paced and action packed as playoff basketball, be it college or pro. And rough? If an NFL player takes an elbow to the face, he's got a helmet and facemask to protect him. Just look what Dwight Howard did to Glen Davis last night, and that was just one of many lethal elbows thrown in the playoffs. I'll take NBA playoffs over football any day, I don't have to wait 45 seconds between plays. I watch and enjoy football too, but I was amazed while watching an NFL playoff game at a friend's house last season. He DVR'd it and since we omitted all the non-action time, it took us about 1/2 hour to watch the entire game.

To each their own , I may be in the minority on this board but for action , passion & heart you cannot beat the NHL playoffs and the race for the Stanley Cup .

Steve Nash is about all I care about but I am Cdn and live in his hometown.

The Suns coach called Nash "Hockey Night in Canada" the other night for putting his nose back in place after it was schmucked by a Laker Elbow.

I didn't see the play where he brole his nose but did see in replays where he cracked it back into place. Ouch.

Cdn's rule!!!!

Anybody been watching the NBA playoffs?

I'd rather watch the shopping channel. Seriously...when did they change the rule concerning how many steps you could take while driving to the basket?...In the NBA, it's not uncommon to count upwards of 3 and sometimes 4!!...How about palming the ball or carrying?...Two steps while holding the ball in your hand in between dribbles?...These are not fouls going uncalled...these are rule infractions.....

Just plain painful to watch

To be precise, it was Derek Fisher's forehead.

About the time Michael Jordan came into the league...if they'd followed the rules prior to that, he would've averaged about 6 pts a game...the rest would be travelling violations.

Indeterminate...some go back as far as Isaiah Thomas, some blame it on Iverson.

The Technical foul for your hand slipping while helping up a teammate & causing your elbow to accidently hit an opponent (who had no business walking up that close to you after a play) might have been the worst call I've ever seen in basketball. Yeah, even the announcers, who normally make a point not to disagree with ref unless it's the hometeam announcing crew, were talking about the bad technicals.

I used to love bball as a kid but now it is by far the worst sport for me including baseball and golf. To me the Jordan years were the last fun ones. I find the guys are amazing athletes but the egos and personalities are a huge turnoff IMO.

There is not a whole lot of teamwork or any sportsmanship anymore and that seems to come forward more in basketball than any other sport. Lebron James is a true example- there is no way he should leave Cleveland. Somehow I never see Jeter, or Puhols or Peyton Manning or Brady or Crosby walking out on their teams. But in hoops its the norm.

It would be truly amazing if Orlando somehow wins and both Boston teams had 3-0 leads and lost the series.

little known fact.

Jack Nicholson has never been to a Lakers game.

But his stand-in sure has some great seats.
