Man, I finally got my order from HTN today and I'm really bummed. I ordered all SIX of the shows on 10/20/03.

Today the package shows up and I only got 3 of the shows with an adjusted invoice. There was no note in there or any explaination about what the deal was.

I think I screwed up because I ordered other stuff with my CDs and the delay to fill my bigger order must have cost me getting the other three shows.

If anyone else got screwed on this or knows anything about it I would like to hear what you have heard.

Well, I'm sweating because it's been stated that these shows were sold out and they pulled them from the website just about 3 days after my order. My email invoice had all 6 shows on it but the package only had the 3 they currently show on the web with an invoice that showed I only ordered those 3 shows instead of the SIX.

I also ordered the "Eat a Peach" mouse pad and it shows a charge and "backordered" on my invoice so I have to assume I'll never see the other 3 shows.

The communication on this whole thing has been quite poor. I couldn't be more pissed off at this point but I want to see what HTN says because they have always done a great job on my orders in the past.

I get the feeling that the orders have been pretty overwhelming .... I wouldn't be surprised if the shows are re-offered up in the future ....

Take your time digesting the ones you have !!! Hell, I haven't even got mine yet !!

I think they are really busy with these orders....small consolation I know, but Joe Bell has been keeping everyone updated on the guestbook and forum about every other day explaining where they were in the ordering process, how many people they temp. hired to get the orders out as fast as they could and things like that....this is a pretty small organization as far as that goes and this was a big project for them and I think they did as good a job as they possibly could have...I also think the demand on these instant live releases was probably more than they were expecting and maybe in the future more will be produced....you can still always get top quality audience recordings too.

I ordered the very first day and just got mine two days ago. I know people who ordered the day after (but ordered less) and received theirs nearly a week before mine...

So I guess it was just luck of the draw. I wish I had known that I would miss out on 3 of the shows by ordering more "stuff" with it. My order date was 10/20/03 but my invoice that came with the order shows 11/6/03 as the "order date" like I placed it much later or something. It's funny too because the original charge on my CC was for the first amount. It's almost like they figured out as they were boxing the thing that they didn't have anymore of the 3 shows and adjusted everything after the fact.

I emailed them last night as soon as I opened the package and got no reply today. All I can assume is that because my bigger order got pushed back, the CDs which were still available and listed on my original email invoice sold out and I won't ever get them.

It would be nice if they would at least explain this. You would think that someone who spends more money on their order at the very least wouldn't get dogged on the short supply of CDs. I don't want preferred treatment but a note with the package, an email, or anything that explains why I got left out of 3 shows would have been nice.

Mostly I'm just bummed because I'll never get those other shows. I've been jamming Darien Lake today and it's flat out FANTASTIC. This was such a great deal for ABB fans and this summer tour was so great I just wanted everything I could possibly get.

I would start looking for kind folks who got Hartford if I were you. They listed a "backorder" on a mouse pad that I wanted so they knew when the box shipped that those other shows were gone. It was stated here before that there were a very limited amount of these and that when they were gone..... that was it. Maybe we'll get lucky and they will print some more but if there were any plans to do that you have to assume they would be posting it on the HTN website or including some explaination in the package.

I don't want to sound negative here, but those Instant Live albums are not to be traded or copied, as per the wishes of the band....

Yeah, they really shouldn't be copied....

You're not being negative but the way this has been handled by HTN sure is.

All they had to do was pull the shows that had sold out from the website. It's not that hard to manage a website/store.

I would have accepted a note in my package with some sort of apology for selling me something that they didn't have. But then I'm fairly forgiving.

There are probably some pretty good AUD recordings of these other shows out there for those of us who were not fortunate enough to be "in" with the HTN crew.

Tom:

email me at huskerwing@comcast.net

We can look for good AUD recordings of the ABB Hartford show and then share info. If I find it I'll send it to you or we can do some trade. I don't keep a standing list but I've got tons of Dead, ABB, Panic, and Mule. I'm sure we can figure something out.

Since I didn't hear back from HTN today I'm going to go searching for those three shows via the trading networks. I'm sure someone out there has a decent copy of Hartford as an AUD recording. It won't sound as good as the Instant Live discs but there are some damn fine tapers out there probably captured a great recording of it.

These are all very valid points so let's communicate through them and see where we stand and see what we can do...

1) Your order confirmation number is simply that - confirmation we received your order, not confirmation that we have all of the Instant Lives that were ordered. It also represents the order in which we reserved the limited product we had for you. On some occasions we may have shipped out orders numerically later than others because we had the inventory at our site and to fill the lower order number required a trip to the warehouse. However, that product did not lose it's priority or reservation for an Instant Live.

2) Ordering other products with your order did not cause any priority to be lost, either. We usually can get other CD and DVD products one day after ordering (Atlanta Pops was delayed for a while, however). T-shirts and mousepads take longer to fill as backorders but we typically went on and sent the Instant Lives out.

3) We did not charge anyone for product not received and tried to commuicate via this forum and the guestbook about where we stood with orders. Please see "Kid Glove updates on Instant Live." You're right - we should have a spot on our website for this update as well - thanks for the good suggestion - I'll prioritize that.

4) Perhaps we should have printed something on the packing slip, next to the Instant Live CDs that were not filled. In the interest of speed we simply erased that line or did not show a charge next to it and tried to communicate to the masses via this website. We didn't know whether to back order it or not as we haven't heard a final statement from the decision makers about reprinting the Instant Lives, although we are hopeful and optimistic it will occur.

5) Speed is the same reason we have had to choose between filling orders or answering e-mails and phone calls. At the peak we were getting about five hundred e-mails and 75 phone calls a day asking about the order status. We have limited resources so we are doing the following:

A) Rapidly increasing the number of people we have working with us so that we can respond faster

B) Investigating a more advanced order fullfillment system that will eliminate a number of administrative steps and speed the process up considerably. Yikes - we've outgrown our infrastructure! As it is not as integrated into the internet as we would like it to be, there was uncertainty as to when we sold out of particular shows. In hindsight, the Charlotte, Raleigh and Hartford shows sold out in the first few hours.

C) Once we are finished with issue #40 we will have several more hands to help pack and ship which will help ssignificantly during the holiday season.

6) Please also note that it is a wonderful time to be an Allman Brother fan - we have the Stonybrook CD, Instant Lives, Beacon DVD, Bonaroo DVD, Atlanta Pops, The Deepest End and, as a result of the wealth of products, we are shipping ten times more product than ever before and I know that mistakes are being made (with new people hired, please see point 5 above).

We do understand that you have a choice of where to order most products and do not for a minute take your business for granted. With attending festivals, moving the business and delivering Stonybrook and the Instant Lives, our staff has worked a total of 85 of the last 90 days - because we care about delivering to you the products we all desire!

Every day we are making progress (and some mistakes). Thank you for your patience during these growth pains and for your suggestions...

Best Regards,

JNB

I've been ordering off the web for nearly 10 years and this is the first time I got an order confirmation on something that wasn't actually being sold anymore. Your policy is your policy. I'm in no position to challenge that. I really wanted those shows and I was too late... at least now I know about it. Thanks for posting here so I have some clue as to what happened.

I'm still trying to figure out how someone who ordered all six shows on the 21st or 22nd got them and I didn't when my order went in on the 20th.... maybe I just didn't understand the messages I read here but it sure seemed that way. If I didn't get pushed back in the Q how did I miss out? I know I've read at least two posts here where people said they ordered "all six shows" on a later date than me and just had them arrive in the mail. If my order was there prior to theirs, how did I end up missing three of these concerts? Maybe they only got three and didn't say that.... I guess it doesn't matter at this point.

I'm glad your business is booming. That's great for you all. I guess it doesn't matter what level you are at..... Dell Computer or a local pizza joint that decided to franchise. When business booms there is a transition period and when it's all said and done there will be a decrease in customer service. The Brothers were due and now they can cash in. I'll find some good AUD copies of those shows and look forward to the next releases or re-releases of the instant lives.

Please private message me (click on JNB) with your order information and the examples of others who received theirs before you and I will be happy to look into it for you.

Well, I was wrong. I went to copy the messages of those guys who got their shows who I thought ordered after I did and I can find nothing on this site or the others I've been reading. I was mistaken and have sent an apology to JNB. I don't know how I mixed that up.... Looks like I just ordered a day or two too late.

peace

It's very kind of you to post that last reply.

I sure that much of the frustration stems from the fact that you love the music and want more of it! Not a bad thing at all...

We're trying our best to get it to you.

Peace,

JNB

I wouldn't go that far! It CAN be at times.

Tom: I've contacted two of my trader buddies and they are going to reach out to find the best available copy of the Hartford show. It shouldn't take too long.

They already have good sounding AUDs of the NC shows so I'm having those burned asap. I'll let you know when I hear something about the Hartford show.
