EPIC SHOW! One for the ages, people. Get ready to hear a lot of ranting and raving about this one. Friday was good, but this was another level. Something really special happened at the Spirit of Suwannee tonight.

Best Wanee show ever? Easily, hands down. Better than the Jazz Fest 2007 show? By a country mile. This will end up ranking among the very best shows this lineup has ever played.

My daughter was at Wanee this time around and she called me after the Brothers set saying it was one of the best ABB shows she's seen, and she has seen a few. My old self was glued to the screen via Moogis and enjoyed every note. you could feel the magic happening, thank you Butch & Moogis crew! Rob, I'm pretty sure itwas JoJo Herman from WSP on Piano during Shoolgirl & Jimmy herring was sitting in on guitar on that one as well! Getting pumped for macon friday night!!!!!!!!!!!!

Environment has a lot to do with it. Classic setlist, but didn't translate via Moogis as I'm sure it did live. Maybe I was expecting more & varied guests. Jimmy could have been in a better spot to showcase - Les Brers or Liz, rather than a mostly subdued Schoolgirl. Oteil was cranked up on the Liz break. Like the giant MJ Wanee sandwich reprise - felt Dazed coming. I'll need an archive viewing. Nothing like 3.26.09, heck even 3.20.10, 3.15.10 or even 10.11.08 Chastain. No Chuck? Robert Randolph, a horn or two. Was hoping for a Sharon Jones Come on in my Kitchen.

The music off the charts! The new Derek & Susan band is so wonderful!!! I am just blown away!! Everything went perfect all weeekend! Spending time with the family is half the fun of the weekend! Pictures coming soon!

Chuck had another gig so I believe that is why he didn't stick around. Sharon Jones had a canceled flight so Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk was extended and off the freakin charts! Mushroom stage had so much magic! Have so much to digest in order to get it set straight for ya'll! Stay tuned!

foppa I have to disagree with that translate to Moogis point. I was lucky enough to watch their set live on Moogis last night, (thanks George) and I just sat there dumb founded. It wasn't "a Derek night". It wasn't "a Warren night". It was Derek and Warren both in an other worldly zone unlike anything I've seen night. I've seen a lot of ABB shows, and I would put last nights performance in the top three. Greggs voice is as powerful as it's been in years, and his focus on lyrics and such is really sharp. Wow. I'd love to see these guys live right now...... I'm south bound momma.....

We watched the 3/13/10 show too. Unbelievable. I hear people suggesting that these guys are "winding it down" as a band. Then you see them live and you wonder "why the heck would they want to do that?" The arrow is still pointing up, that's for sure.

Thanks for the correction on the guests, everyone. I was working the HTN booth and didn't quite catch everything, obviously.

I can understand the point about how the crowd, vibe, etc. can add a lot to a show. However, if anything I can be a pretty jaded veteran at times. I've heard every show the ABB has played since 2004, and not all shows are created equal. I rarely post the kind of gushing review I put up this morning--10/4 Charlotte was probably the last--and I think the CDs will bear me out on this one.

I was at the 10/11/08 show, and while it's all very subjective, I wouldn't even put it in the same league as this show. Frankly, I don't think any 2008 show can stand up to what the band has been putting down in the past year or so. Different level.

The 3/20/09 and 3/26/09 Beacon shows are pretty amazing, and time may show that this show falls short of those. I was careful to hedge my bets in my earlier post and not say "This was the greatest show this lineup has ever played."

It was just the greatest outdoor festival set this lineup has ever played

I have to agree on the Warren/Derek observation. They were both on fire - which is why we got a two solo Dreams. Unlike friday Jimmy H didn't take over - I think he saw that is was pointless. Johnny Winter was better than he was at the Beacon - because the ABB set him up to play a solo rather than having him integrate into the band (which is nearly impossible since he is close to blind an deaf)

My only regret - had to pick up my 14 year old during what i thought was "Just another Midnight Rider encore" From what I gather I was a bit far off

Great solid show. Gregg is sounding better because many songs have slopped their tempo down to accomodate where his vocals are a this time of his life.

Hey Rob, Just wondering and hoping this show will be released on IL and made available through HTN, any info? Was at both the 3-20-09 Clapton show and the 3-20-10 Palace show and would love to hear this show and stack it up against those. That setlist from last night is nothing short of amazing. An Allman fans dream setlist

Fair enough. I do respect/trust your judgement, Rob. In fairness I was distracted with the Rockies No Hitter and the Caps/Habs OT comeback. I do stand by my comment that Jimmy was underutilized on Schoolgirl (not a fav). I'm sure I'll give it a couple of focused listenings via Moogis archive. Maybe the lack of crowd noise in the mix left me flatter than expected - or my expectations were too high.

Cheers.

Good to see you Rob. The show Saturday may have been the best show ever by the Brothers that I have seen. Really the crowd was fantastic. We sat and danced till tears rolled down my face. My son and his wife said it was the best concert they had ever seen. Stage show, sound, setlist and the crowd was off the chain.

The new back speakers in the field really made the diffence. How about the air ballons and lazers? Wow!

I was to the right of the tapers and at times was driven to tears by the magic the band oozed out last night. It was without a doubt IMHO their greatest hour!

To those who asked, Instant Live was taking pre-orders at the HTN booth, so imagine they will eventually be made available to anybody interested.

I agree Saturday night was excellent. Major step up from Friday.

My favorite shows in recent history that I've seen in person are Saturday night at Chastain, the first Clapton night. The times I've seen the band with Chuck Leavell over the past decade also rank really high.

This was excellent show Saturday night but I think I'm desensitized by too many shows in the past couple years honestly (good problem to have I realize).

I agree completely about Sat's show being an obvious step up.

'And It Stoned' me with John Bell was the best version of this song this fan has ever seen/heard...
