Never seen Carlos. Listen to older Santana often. I have my eye on the show coming up in Charlotte, but am concerned this may lead to another let down ala Clapton a few weeks ago in Raleigh (the acoustic segment and the fact everyone was seated did me in). Have you seen Santana over the past say 5 - 10 years? Will I get an earful of that beautiful tone along with the percussion or the pop oriented tunes he put out several years ago? Thanks for the feedback.

Saw him in Atlanta at Chastain in '08 in the rain when Derek opened for him....good show but you will have to have a tolerance for quite a bit of preaching about Love and Harmony, which isn't a bad thing, it's just that it takes away from time when he could be playing his guitar.

There's also a little rap mixed into his sets, and with the success of Supernatural there is a fair amount of commercialism that probably wan't there before. I never saw him back in the day, like the '70s and the '80s, so if you're expecting that kind of show you're not going to get it. But he is a superlative musician and a very spiritual person. If you haven't seen him, I would definitely recommend that you go, especially with Steve Winwood opening.

If you've never seen Santana live - GO!!! He's excellent and his band is outstanding. And if you enjoy listening to his music you will not be disappointed. Not sure what you are referring to as the pop stuff ... if you mean Supernatural, well, yes - you'll probably hear a couple of tunes from that. But you'll hear more of the stuff he's done through the ages. (IMO it's worth it just to hear him play Europa or Samba Pa Ti). First live Santana show - 1970 or 71. Last live show a few years ago when DTB opened for him. And many shows in between. Have not been disappointed once. I'm planning on catching Santana, Winwood, and Michael Franti at a free fest here in Middle Earth this summer.

I went to the Chastain show a couple years ago when DTB opened, one of my all time favorite
Santana has been awesome each time I've seen them and I myself kinda dig the peace and love rap
maybe we need more of that, this world could use some change instead of the me,me,me attitude of the entitled generation. Wow did I say that!

Saw him twice in the last five years. He doesn't disappoint. If you've never seen him you've got to go.
