It's a hokey name but I do dig Slick Aguilar of Starship.Thinking about going but it conflicts with another function I want to attend.Has anyone attended one of these concerts? If so, what did you think?

I went in '09 as it was close and I had free tix w/backstage passes. A good friend of mine is friends with Tom Constanten, who was the keyboard player for the Dead back when they played Woodstock. It was TC, Quicksilver Messanger Service, Big Brother, Starship and someone else.
To be honest, it wasn't that great. I had a great time talking with TC, his set was fun and the music was ok, but they have these younger women playing the "roles" of Janis and Grace in the bands, each band had like one original member and tho the songs were fun, it was kinda lame. If I had paid and hadn't got all the free beer I wanted backstage, I wouldn't have been happy at all.

These days a lot of so-called classic rock bands are basically one original member and a lot of new people who weren't around when the band was in its prime. Such as Canned Heat, The Yardbirds, Iron Butterfly as well as the bands Amy mentioned below.

But for some reason the bands continue to tour under the original name, and draw in a few suckers who don't realize that the party ended years ago.
