Sting and Dave Matthews

"Dumb and Dumber"

Sounds never, ever heard on my car radio or anywhere else that I can escape. Those of you here that know me understand my dislike....er....hate...for these two voices. Folks know where I tie my goat and it is here. I may be in a minority-of-one; but in the land of the blind the man with one eye is king.

In a good way. When Craig Fuller was in Little Feat his take on Lowell vocals was great.

I find it ironic that both these band went looking for other lead singers only to have someone in the band who sounded a lot like their original (to these ears):

Paul Barrere and Lowell George
Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel

And not exact, but I've always thought that Ronnie James Dio and Chris Cornell sounded similar

This one may sound silly but the very first time I heard Neil Young's Down by the River on the radio as a teen, I thought it was Loudon Wainwright III going in a new rock direction...!

I still think their voices have some similarities in timber and inflection...

I don't know how many folks here are into these two artists, but I think Colin Meloy of the Decembarists sounds eerily like Robyn Hitchcock...

Actually David Byrne doesn't sing he howls like a moose that got hit by a semi and is dying a very agonizing death on the road...IMHO

Leon Russell and Jorma sound a lot a like to me
