He could sing the phone book and it would sound great.
Thanks for the post

Thanks so much for posting this, it's been many years since I've seen it. A CLASSIC.

After Jimi, that's my favorite version.

Marvin was such a true talent.

Why are some of the most talented people the most troubled ones?

I'm partial to Whitney Houston's version from the Super Bowl. But, definitely like Marvin and Jimi's versions as well.

I seem to remember one of the Marsalises doing a version with Bruce Hornsby, all instrumental, at a baseball game (I think a playoff game), at least a decade ago. It was fantastic! (Assuming I didn't just dream this one).

Marvin was pure genius as a musician.

only he could turn a military march into a funky groove
and look cool doing it.

miss him.

For a lot of people, Marvin was the sound of the 70's.

I remember my mom buying What's Goin' On? when it first came out. It's in my collection now, as well as the live album with the studio cut, "Got To Give It Up."

"Here, My Dear" was brilliant yet depressing.

April 2 would have been Marvin Gaye's 71st birthday.
April 1, the 26th anniversary of his death.

Glorious voice. Enormous talent.
Tortured life. Sad, sad death.
