Jon Anderson SOLO
Work In Progress Tour 2004
10/25/2003 - We are pleased to announce plans for the Jon Anderson SOLO - Work In Progress Tour 2004, presented by XM Satellite Radio.

Tentative plans call for a tour of the East Coast of the U.S., running from Jan. 20th through Feb. 10th 2004. Exact dates and locations will be announced in about a month, with tickets going on sale in December. Venues for the tour are expected to be intimate theatre-type settings.

For the Work In Progress Tour Jon will perform a truly solo "one man show", playing various instruments and accompanied only by backing tracks of his own creation.

Jon expects to draw on a wide range of his solo music for this tour, with special emphasis on his upcoming project "The Big If". Fans can also expect to hear some classic Jon & Vangelis and Yes material as well.

Stay tuned for further details!

-----------Just caught the Wakeman stop in Cincy, quite a lot of fun...great music, great stories, and the crowd would have made Skipper and Old Coot feel chronologically right at home

Cheers

Carlos "Now, when is Squire doing his one man show?" Rivera

OOOO BE STILL MY BEATING HEART!!!

LOL

what, no freaking Vangelis?

I'd have loved to see Rick Wakeman. Jon, well, not as much.... but i'm sure he puts on a good show. he's got a great voice, a bit high pitched for me...but good...

Wakeman had a great joke about Anderson:
"He is the only person I know who is trying to save this planet while living on another planet"

Linnie

I would give my right......er hum oh pitsachio to see Vangelis live, but alas, he very rarely goes out live and almost no contact with the media.....sigh

Cheers

Carlos,
It's so nice to have another Yes-head around here...

I love that Wakeman quote too! - He's a funny guy, he's had quite a few good ones.

I'm interested in hearing what kind of studio album, the current lineup will put out, again.
Paul.

Carlos,

You are secretly a "prog-head" deep down aren't you ?. Lovin' that classic Gabriel & Yes....

Seriously, nice change of pace with the info. for those interested. For those that like Jon's repertoire, I am sure that this could be an interesting intimate show to check out (Warning: You really have to like Jon's work to get through this)

Thanks

B

No prog-head is worth a darn that is not into the 1970's albums by Camel and Nova. Maybe throw Gryphon, 808, and Nektar in there to boot.

What is Steve Howe up to these days?

Derek,

He has been the guitarist back in YES for about 10 years now; re-replacing Trevor Rabin.

Hi Billy

Actually, about the only music I cannot stomach is shlock country and rap.....and sometimes many of the opera pieces.

But overall, I "discovered" prog-rock and Duane about the same time, so they are my ying and yang

Anybody dig ('70's) Genesis, and/or Steve Hackett?

Al, Al, Al,

We can tell the new kid on the block

I believe I am the resident Genesis freak on the list, with about three or four others. I just saw Hackett here about two months ago...a book store tour to promote his new acoustic release.

When I get a chance, I will pm you my current Genesis list...containing a number of Hogweed remasters.....and pick one out and I will zip it off to Aland......you do have a cd player in Finland, don't you?

Cheers

Urk!!!!

We're not that primitive! Even got a DVD player somewhere in a max security vault!
I respectfully request to be counted among the few Genesis freaks. Got all their albums, all Hackett's albums up to, like Bay of Kings, and a coupla the newer ones (can't get 'em here! Try to when I'm home). He played in Stockholm a coupla wks ago but I canceled my ticket order 'cuzza impending baby uncertainty. Got Rutherford and Banks solo LP's, an Anthony Philips, all the old PG solo LP's, bootlegs from every tour back to Foxtrot (on vinyl)....coupla vids. Saw 'em back in the day on the Abacab tour, and the self-titled tour. Saw Phil's first tour, saw Robert Plant's first solo tour, twice, just 'cuz Phil was drumming.

Al (oh no, it's starting again!) Sjoholm

I have always liked Genesis, but I don't consider myself an expert on the subject. I just liked what I heard and saw them a couple of times with Phil Collins. Would've liked to have seen Peter Gabriel

Jon Anderson solo? That could be an interesting show in a small venue. With no backing musicians, I would imagine that he'd be using sequencers, samplers and maybe some synclavier(?). "Olias of Sunhillow" was an intersting project, but a whole night of that stuff might give me the same headache that I got at that Kraftwerk show 30 years ago.

Sue

Did you ever snag any of the remastered Hogweeds (Gabriel-era live shows)? If not, drop me a pm with your addy and one will be enroute to you in the Peach State.

By the way, my son was set to enter basic at Benning but was detoured to Fort Knox. He is set to do his followup at Ft Gordon......he has had little exposure to Georgia, except to visit Duane and Berry in Macon

Cheers

Wow, thank you Carlos! U the Man!

I hope your son has a pleasant experience here during his stay in the Peach State! lol
At least he won't freeze to death. Our winters are mild compared to other places.

Carlos,
I'm with you on the genesis thing. I'm a Genesis nut too and I don't know if that's come up from me yet either.

Al,
I don't have all of Hackett's solo stuff, but I have some...

I suspect that there are actually much more ABB fans who appreciate prog-rock than there are prog-rock fans who appreciate the ABB.

I don't necessarily believe them to be anti-thetical to each other, just requires an ability to recognize virtousity in different realms of music.

Rusty....I would love to hear JA do another Olias....sigh....he purposely chose to teach himself all the instruments for that release. And, I am anxiously, if fruitlessly, awaiting the cd release of "Animation"

Sue...no problema.....just get your youngins to yell "Whipping Post" at a Prog-rock concert

Cheers
