Having seen BK3 recently and watching two Moogis shows this year, it occurred to me that Oteil is really vastly under appreciated. BK3 is the Bill Kruetzman trio with Scott Murawski on guitar. When you listen to what Oteil can do in a trio setting, playing essentially lead bass, and you look at the foundation he lays for every song in ABB, he really is a most unbelievable bass player. In fact, I really don't think you could name me a better bass player. But what I maybe like the best about Oteil is that being such an unheralded musician will never be an issue with him. He is playing music for all the right reasons...........to bring joy to everyone who listens. Oteil has his head on straight.............I did meet him once very briefly backstage in 2002 and he was as nice and gracious as I expected, and that's all I ever hear from anyone else.

I've always thought that Oteil is overlooked when it comes to Bass Players...He's one of the best,IMO....I also loved O & The Peacemakers....

He's truly a world class musician , and one hell of a nice guy too . Did anyone ever see him with the Funkin' Truth ? I went to a little joint in Tallahassee , Fl. ( it's name escapes me ) to see them , only to learn they'd been snowed in in Athens , Ga. . It was a really small place , and I'd figured that I'd have a chance to meet him before or after the show .

I got my chance a few years back at Wanee . I bumped into he and Kofi , and had a brief , yet friendly chat with them . You'd never guess that they could smoke most any other musician on the planet judging by the way they carry themselves .

He really shined in NYC this year. Looked like he was having a heck of a good time, too.

Oteil is the man! I play the guitar so I am definitely in tune w/ that, but at ABB concerts I still randomly exclaim, "...friggin Oteil!", while tugging on a friends arm and pointing at Oteil in reaction to some ridiculous sh*t he has played, more than anything.

AMEN to you all. Oteil is the man! When a great ABB guitar solo is building and Derek or Warren are wailing, listen to what Oteil is doing. Unreal! God bless Oteil Burbridge.

He is a great person, very nice and probably one of the best Bassists out there. One of my favorites for sure. He comes from a super nice family too. His folks live near our area and I have met and sat with them during the DTB shows at the Visulite Theater. They're a loving bunch and it shows........

I saw the Funkin' Truth show you speak of in Athens...funky. Oteil, Leo Nocentelli, and I can't remember who the drummer was.

"Snowed?" They weren't paid for the gig in Athens? I know it wasn't heavily attended, probably less than a couple of hundred folks at the Georgia Theatre that night if my memory serves.

I was just watching 3/19 2nd set. From Meet Me In The Bottom to Stormy Monday, Jessica then Oteil solo on Little Martha... WOW!! Everyone is talking about Oteil and how he is really standing out. I am sooo excited to see him with Derek/Susan's band. Derek and Oteil have a bond that grew deeper!
