Why don't you just leave Kirk out of this? You really didn't start this thread to pay tribute to Kirk, you just wanted to disrupt things. I think most people would agree that he might deserve better than to be used as a prop for your personal vendetta.

Great photos, thanks for posting them...where did the previous thread go?
=================================================

Kirk has possibly done more good for the band than anyone else in the last 20years.........
========================================================
no slight to any other of the wonderful people working for or connected the the ABB,
but as far as I'm concerned, Kirk (along with Lana) has been the kindest, most consistently accessible, most fan friendly and best face of the Allman Brothers Band for a very long time......
I am certain all of us would have a lot less info, or maybe none, & ABB Archive music, or none, without Kirk. He is the ultimate Allman Brothers Fan.
Whatever is up, I, as well as my entire family, have been very fortunate and blessed to make his acquaintance, and are nothing but extremely grateful for every moment he spent with Marley,Tyler or myself....
--------------------------------------------------------
Hats of to Mr.Kirk West....

You're so welcome. The other thread became "tainted" so I thought I'd try again. For whatever reason, this thread's become tainted too. I never imagined it would be this difficult... I give up.

Thanks for reposting your love for KW though.

Kirk deserves big props for what he's done for the band over the years -- don't forget he was heavily involved w/the Dreams boxset, & I believe wrote those great recollections of the Atlanta Pop Festival when that CD came out -- to have a person like that, someone who's "one of the fans" yet still a part of the ABB too, has been beneficial the whole way -- thank you Kirk, it's the people like you & many others who do so much "behind the scenes" -- best to you & Kirsten bro

Seems to just be a pissing contest as to whether who knows more about this or that and who is more on the "inside" than somebody else. Basicilly, stuff that don't matter.

Let it go... Is it really any of our business why somebody doesn't have a job anymore ?

The man did a very good thing, for which we all should be grateful. Does what he accomplished for us as fans, be diminished in any shape, form whatsoever merely because he may have seen the original ABB line up or not ?

The old thread was renamed:

What's Your Favorite Daytime Talk Show?

It's nice that psople want to post tributes to Kirk. I don't even know the man.

I'm not going to post anything else on this one. But, I do wish the person who started this thread would identify himself.
I was hoping nobody would post on this one or the other one and just let this thing die.

Short answer.....no. But for people who want to know what color pick Duane played with at what show during what song, it's important information received is accurate. But again, short answer, no.

I would think no one would want to know what color pick Duane used...but then I got a PM from someone asking me that very question, LOL.

I have no clue of any of the rumors, half-truths, or facts that may surround this situation.

I only met the man once and found him extremely nice, open and forthcoming about the band. His historical contribution to the success of this band deserves it's rightful respect regardless of how things might have ended up.

In the tradition that has belittled Dickey, now treat Kirk with similiar disregard and disrespect. It's only fair. It's what ABB forum people do.
No - it's not what the majority of 'ABB forum people' do (but it's not surprising that you would make the choice to make this kind of comment). I've found that most 'ABB forum people' are kind and supportive of both Dickey and Kirk ... their situations with the band are beyond the control of anybody here. It is possible to be a fan of the music of the ABB, of the current incarnation of the band, of Dickey Betts unmistakable talent and musical contribution to the ABB as well as his own bands, and to be appreciative of Kirk's contribution to the band and maintaining archives that document the history of the band.
(and I'll add that I have met and spoken with Kirk once and he was open and kind to me)

Tortoise-shell, I believe it's called. Faux-Tortoise shell ... for all the vegamatarians out there.

What? sh!t! I used to eat a couple picks a day. Mediums, sometimes it was the small ones that mandolin players use. I ate the black ones, too.
