A sad sad day.

Nuff said.

Well, it was going to happen sooner or later. I wonder if it has anything to do with him testifying against Clemens this summer...he probably didn't want that being a distraction for the team, so he decided to retire. Who knows...

I was thinking of that. He hates the spotlight as it is, so I think this played a big role in him leaving.
But at least he goes out on his terms.

The baserunners won't miss him. Best pickoff move ever.

When I first heard that Pettite was going to retire, I thought, "Why so close to spring training?".

Apparently he had told the Yankees after the season that he wouldn't be back this season. Probably why they made a few of the pitching moves they did. They may actually have to rely on A.J. Burnett. Yikes!

No reason to play the season. Just hand the trophy to the Red Sox. NOT!

We'll get something dude but the demand for tix is ridiculous. For the 2nd year in a row they've had to stop selling season ticket plans and there is actually a waiting list.
They're selling out spring training too. I may look into a 3 pack this year which is a new option. It's cheaper and easier to swing then a 6 pack.

I wonder if they regret building a 43,000 seat ballpark. The Vet held 60,000.
