Hey there sweet family,

Due to an unforeseen family matter, the Allman Brothers Band shows scheduled for March 22-27 in New York City have been cancelled. The shows scheduled for March 11-20 at the United Palace will take place as planned. Refunds are available at point of purchase. The group looks forward to seeing their fans at all their upcoming performances including their Wanee Festival in Florida (April 16 & 17), the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 23-25) and at Eric Claptonís Crossroads Festival (June 26).

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

how is this dolans fault? the beacon vs united palace should not keep any fans away. issue is economy, high ticket prices and a bigger venue. also many folks made the trek last year because as the 40th anniversary it was a special time. Times are alot worse for many folks now.

The band should have stuck with the original number of shows if they wanted to gouge on the high prices. I went to 4 or 5 shows last year and bought 4 tix for each as i treat my guests. This year I bought only 3 shows and a total of 8 tickets vs 16 or 20 last year.

Times are rough. And i for one am tired of hearing Butch preach about Moogies already.

I hope that's not the case. My boyfriend lives two blocks from the theater, and it's a perfectly fine place that's very accessible by the 1/A/C trains. I'd rather go there than the Beacon.

Anyway, I'm seriously bummed it's canceled. I had tickets for the 27th show. This is my second Allman's show that has been canceled. Oh well.

i love the allmans, and have been seeing them for years

i am also a live music freak, and see tons of shows...

but, this year was the first time ever that i passed on tics for a show due to PRICE

the prices for the nyc shows have simply gotten stupid

now, many will bitch and defend, and post prices of other acts and arues the abb prices are in line with them... but that is not comparing apples to apples, in the sense that the other acts are for one or two shows per location... not a residency where the majority of fans attend multiple shows per run

and, to charge these prices to a loyal, core fan base that has supported them for all these years is **** inn' outrageous. this is not a hit it and quit it fan base at all...

and, is reflected by the cancelling of 1/3rd of the run

you know what? serves them right, really. this was self induced completely

greg and co will still have a FAT payday offa the run no doubt... but i'll tell ya- i will not be hitting a few of the earlier shows and grabbing street tics for one reason-

THAT BEING THIS WILL CAST A PALL AND A NEGATIVE CLOUD OVER THE WHOLE RUN

the swagger of beginning a full on run of -/+ 15 packed shows is gone... replaced by the bummer, and ego deflation of having to cancel a 1/3rd of the sceduled shows

and for those who say they will "bring it"? in the first shows? yeah... pride and ego wounded... it will come thru in both the music, and the excitement in the crowd. it will be palpable... NOT my kinda energy or scene

greg passed on the nokia, the best venue choice for this band absent the beacon. why, i dunno... my guess is that it wasn't fancy enough, and too "clubby" feeling. just an opinion there, but it is a very sweet house indeed

anyhow, look forward to a summer run if it happens... 50 bucks gets you in the shed, and 25 for the lawn... and that is what prices should be. guess we'll see if it happens, or if greg thought he'd make a year's pay offa the palace run

so, in summary... sorry greg, but you brought this on yerself man

enjoy being the KING OF THE PALACE... for those who show

and as far as i know, not ONE sold out show yet. boy that sucks, lol

and shelliblue-

Oh man, that sucks!

My advice would just be to take advantage of NYC. Pick up a Time Out NY (or go to their website) and see what's happening for that week. That way, at least your money won't be wasted!

doubtful

that is usually contractually prohibited

and would be a second slap in greg's face if they did, and drew folks... for faaaar less $$

no, something tells ME that warren is embarrassed to be a part of this money grab-egg-on-yer-face fiasco

I missed on the sale for the first eight shows. I got lucky and got good seats for the added five shows.
I bought for three of the five added. A bit chunky of a price at $150 plus service charge.
Now the shows are cancelled.
I actually saw good dropped tickets for the happening shows yesterday but something held me back. Something didn't feel right. I never got buzzed about the Palace.
I live in NYC so, I'll just take each day at a time, and if I'm up to it, I'll ramble up to the Palace and pick up a ticket on the 'walk'.

Nokia-a bit too small
Hammerstein- no rise, flat floor, sucks standing in the back, and anywhere nut to butt.
Radio City-okay, but a bit cavernous, you could have front rows and it feels like your twenty rows away.

My suggestion? The Theater at MSG. Look it up.
Yeah, I know, it's Dolan runned/owned, well so is Radio City.

As I was travelling from England for the last three shows this has cost me $1000 dollars so I am not pleased. If they have been cancelled due slow ticket sales why add the extra shows in the first place?

Well that just speaks volumes of the kind of 'fans' we are talking about.

Music elitists, they can all go jump in the East River for all I care ... but only if it's really as polluted as they claim.

I'd go see this band in a chicken coop if it was in my hometown. What a joke.

Bummer for those who have made financial commitments that can't easily be undone.

English guy ... See if you can rework things with the airline. Maybe Wanee or NOLA Jazzfest? I know its a bummer but maybe you can salvage something?

If not, come and stay with me when my friends and I make our annual to see the ABB at the Finger Lakes in upstate NY in the summer. Just get here, you can stay with me, we drive and camp, do it on the cheap ... They'll be showing all the South Africa 2010 here so don't worry about that.

I just hope everyone involved is healthy and safe.

It may well be that some people are reluctant to make the trip uptown, but I live a few blocks north of the United Palace, and the idea that Washington Heights is some kind of inaccessible wasteland is absurd. The subway service up here is greatóthe ride to midtown on the A train when its running express is no more than 20 minutes. The fact is there are cool venues all over New York, and depending on where you live, getting to any one of them can be a schlep. Not everybody lives in Greenwich Village. Plus this is a great neighborhood, with a really interesting mix of people, lots of good restaurants and bars (not as many as the some of the hipper/pricier neighborhoods, but whatever), and beautiful parks. Itís not the crack haven it was in the 80ís. Its as safe as any other neighborhood in NYC, and more so than many. You get a lot more for your money up here than you do in other parts of Manhattan, but Washington Heights still has its share of million dollar apartments (though maybe fewer than a couple of years ago). Iím constantly amazed at how many New Yorkers never bother to venture up here, but hey, that helps keep my rent reasonable. The United Palace ain't perfect, but its as good as just about any other similar sized venue in NYC.

I hope you decide to still make the trip. There's lots of things to do. I don't know when you'll be in town but here are some suggestions for the nights the Bros. were supposed to play:

3/22- Sheryl Crow - MSG
3/23 - John Scofield - Birdland (3/23-3/27)
3/25 - Tower of Power - BB Kings
3/26 - JR Mack - Terra Blues*** Highly Recommend!!!!
3/27 - Norah Jones - Theatre at MSG
or 3/27 if you like to dance to classic soul music of th 60's and 70's - go to the Rhythm Revue Dance Party at the Roseland Ballroom. Check out the Website ClassicSoul.com. I'll be there. Was planing on taking the A train directly there after the show but now I'll go right there.
