Memphis is one cool town. I love that Beale Street area. We would love to make this show one year.

I think i've only missed going twice since it started...when we were on the road,we always made plans for the Beale St. Fest. week to be open so we could come home...

This event IS lots of fun. I have gone to Memphis in May the last three years. I am fortunate enough that a consultant with whom I do business has their annual client conference during this festival. It’s a great time. My favorite part are the crazy wingnut religious people with megaphones that yell at all the attendees that they are going to hell because they are listening to rock music, the woman are wearing skimpy clothes, and the men are all overall cavemen!! Well, what the hell is not to like about that?!! Sign me up for hell!!

Incidentally, I noticed that us Yankees use BBQ as a verb, and you southerners use BBQ as a noun.

For example, I say, “Let’s bbq that steak.”

You guys say, “Let’s eat some bbq.”

Just an observation…..and a **** ty one at that.

I use BBQ as both a verb and a noun.

Probably because I was born in NY, lived in Houston for 12 great years, and married two native Texans.

"and the men are all overall cavemen"

Never owned a pair of those myself....don't recall seeing anyone wearing them there either...you sure you're talking about the same Fest.?

Oh I think southerners use it as a noun and a verb! I know we do!

I didn't make it to the Beale St Festival.. but, we went in 2007 and stayed at the Peabody Hotel... which was , I think one block from Beale St.. we walked there every night and had such great food.. RIBS yum... and the music was the best..
I left my name on Rum Boogies wall across from the stage area... which also holds a nice picture of the ABB... I could spend hours looking at all the guitars on display...

Thanks to spdb for giving me the heads up ..

If you have the chance to go.. anytime is a treat even if it isn't the festival time.. It's all good...

Do they still have the ducks?

Loved Beale Street when I visited and have heard a lot of good things about this music fest.
