My best friend's father was stationed in Hamburg Germany when he was in the army circ. 1961-62 and R&R was spent checking out the seedy nightclubs of the city. One of the groups he remember seeing was the Beatles with Pete Best on the drums (Pre-Ringo!! )

That is one band i wish i could have seen but can't

PETE FOREVER RINGO NEVER

I saw ELP twice; on the Brain Salad Surgery tour and with the big orchestra in MSG on the Works tour. They were pretty amazing back then. Here's a few photos I took from the July '74 BSS show -

It would not surprise me if ELP re-form at some point. I saw them in 1998 or so, opening for Deep Purple. Great show.

Guys who've been around in my lifetime:

SUBLIME!!!!!!!

Jeff Healey

Rage Against the Machine

While being too young to see Cream, D&D, I've seen Clapton. So of those that I wasn't alive to see, the top of my list would be:

Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac

I saw ELP about five times. Always a great show. The most memorable was at The August Jam with The ABB's Aug 1974. It was at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and over 300 thousand folks showed up. Awesome awesome time!!!!

There are not many on my list of "I had a chance but it's too late now."

The Police (heard their reunion tour was great)
Toy Caldwell (say MTB without Toy)
Bad Company w/Paul Rodgers....hoping another chance comes around

There are others like Eddie Hinton, Eva Cassidy that I didn't even know about until after they passed so I don't count them.

Keith looks like a tech for the phone company trying to wire a high rise building
