i was watching the interview on the dvd tonight and it struck me that we, as our abb family are lucky to have Warren in our band. He could play with ANYONE, like if miles davis were still around or Hendrix they would want to play with warren, but with that being said he is an Allman Brother. What I mean is that this type of music means so much to him he would probably be a brother even if those guys were with us. I think it means a lot that Warren commits so much to this band in terms of direction song writing and producing. Anyone with me? Peace

*After Dickey left, it appears that Warren took over as the driving force to record. Without his contributions, Hittin' the Note may never have happened. For that reason alone we are lucky to have him.*

I would go as far to say that w/o Warren Haynes, the ABB would probably be over.

Without Warren, what configuration of the bastardized ABB would we have?
I daresay, would believe there may not be an 'ABB" as we know it. It would be something of a Gregg/Derek jam session.
OK, Don't get me wrong here. I am a solid fan, long-time (68), and love the band.
Warren just carries so much of the guitar and vocal as well as the songwriting that one would have to speculate as to the validity of the ABB. I am not a "Mule" fan and don't really like much of the solo work by Warren. I loved him and Dickey together. Best since
brother Duane imho.

Hey, a Gregg/Derek jam session doesn't sound too bad to me.

By the way, Warren and the Mule did a nice tribute to Duane last night. They closed the first set with Dark End of the Street and Dreams, with Chris Robinson and Paul Stacey sitting in. And then they did a Mountain Jam tease during Mule (it's listed as a tease, but I got the impression they played it for at least a few minutes).

See, this is where I get confused with this reasoning. So why would the Dickey/Warren line up be valid, but Warren's present work be inquestion?

The answer is simple: you miss Dickey.

Which is fine & all, but no need to knock on Warren's work & question the "validity" of it. And this is coming from somebody that can't STAND Rocking Horse. The man IS an Allman Brother.

Whatever the reason, however you look at it, we are lucky to have such an amazing band, call it the Allman Brothers, the Haynes Brothers, the Trucks Brothers, heck Call it Jaimoe & his six brothers for all I care... Just keep the great music coming...

One recalls Sr. JAG's tagline: "Warren and Derek are the 2nd coming!"
You bet the Brothers are lucky to have Warren -- when he plays music, whether with the Brothers, the Mule, Phil & Friends, or on his own -- only good things happen. When he plays with Derek in the ABB, or Jimmy in Phil & Friends, it's like he's been with those bands since the beginning. He's a great "blend-in"er as well as a great "step-out"er.

When none other than Phil Lesh gets blown away by Warren's ability to play different types of music at the highest level, you know he is something special.

Finsky, I tend to agree wtih you. If it didn't work out with Warren in terms of coming back into the band, the band would have been in big trouble.

The very first time I saw Warren with the ABB was in 1989, and I will never forget how a friend of mine and I were discussing the "new guy" who could keep up with Dickey, lick for lick. Great stuff
