Well ... I haven't seen them in this decade ... yet! And I missed seeing them in the 60's by one year. So I'm more of a 'potential 5 decader'.

You're right numbers don't lie. They're trickier for some than they are for others.
So maybe you can explain to me how you're getting six decades out of a forty one year career? That must be some interesting math work. By my estimations, you're not a six, or even a five decade fan, but more like four. Am I wrong about that?? The last time I checked, a decade was ten years.

Can't say I'd be in that elite group. More like 3 decades for me! And, yes it's 6 decades that the band has played in, but they haven't actually been playing for that long.
The 60s 70s 80s 90s 00s and now 10s That's what SpyNet means by 6 decades. It's something like I'm in my 54th year of life, but I'm only 53 and I've lived in 7 different decades; the 50s to the 10s. Numbers are tricky, lol.

Oh please. The band has been together for 41 years. Let's just be mature and honest enough to call it what it is, and not inflate our egos more than they already are. It's a pretty dumb thread anyway. It's one of those "Look At me" threads. Grow up would you please!!!

To be honest, I don't think very many people care how long someone has been going to Allman Brother Band shows. You're only as good as your last one, and that includes the band as well. They were barely a band through many of those years, and not a band at all at times as well. I'm kinda fed up with the immaturity of some people around here. It's a bit pathetic when people have to make a point about how long they've been going to see a band. It was the same thing back in the Grateful Dead days.

"I've been to ...... shows, since ......., in ..... venues" It gets old fast.
So what? Does it make a difference? "Oh, well I saw Duane.....". Who cares??
Allman Brothers shows, just like Dead shows, just like Zeppelin shows, Rolling Stones, Who, etc, etc, not every show was a winner. I know this because I have a vast collection of live sows. Just speaking of the ABB in the Duane years, some of the shows suck!!

I'm not afraid to say it. Of course I have the highest of respect, and admiration for Duane as a musician, but there were nights they just weren't so incredible.
So is everyone supposed to be in awe that Spynet, or whoever else saw ABB in some high school gym in 1969, or some Armory? Get over it, and get over yourself!!

The fact is the shows they've played in the last eight years are some of the best shows they've ever played in the entire career. That's without Duane, and without Dickey, and without Berry. We all moved on, so you, and Spynet can stop living in the past.

Have a nice day!!! Sorry to poop all over your thread Spynet, but it's a little shallow.

Well almost. 2010 is still part of the current decade. The new decade will start with 2011.

I'm still just a one decade kind-of-guy unless the band comes out west in the next couple of years (my bet is they don't other than solo or side projects).

Thanks for setting the site straight on what is appropriate and unappropriate posting behaviour. It's nice to know what the rules are and who to go to with any questions about what constitutes shallow v.s. non-shallow posting. So, starting thread about your history with band site was developed for = bad and posting photos and advertising that business website = good? Just want to make sure I'm clear on this.

Good advice. You might want to think about this your own self. Have a nice day!

(you know ... who gives a rat's a@@ about this stuff, anyway... if you don't like a thread it's not necessary to ALWAYS post a 1000 word rebuke ... don't understand your motivations in getting in peoples 'faces' and being so judgemental - not just here, but elsewhere on the site, also ps - love your photos and think you've got real talent. )

Good morning Mike
The interesting math work your having trouble grasping is: Simple Addition.
It was not my intention to try and confuse anyone with Hieroglyphs.
Sorry if you don't see the point I was making, perhaps If I had simple stated the ABB will be playing in their 6th decade, you would still be having trouble doing the math...but you would not discern that I was trying to blow my own horn...all I did was be old enough, and show up
You have a lot of misplaced anger which you direct torwards a simple statement that you could not even grasp

I am not insulted, or angered by your post in the least...just amused.

Feel free to poop all over anything your heart desires son.

You seem to be full of it, and when you got to go..you got to go
How can I be angered by someone who cant do simple math?!
Thank you for the "nice day" wishes...you too

LOL..as for you StratDal
It's a whole other arguement with you. The 21st Century started in 2000, 2010 is the start of the next decade.
if we go by your logic..the day you were born you were 1..?
noooooo

Oh, my! Someone's wound too tight! This site is for fun Mike, so maybe YOU are the one that needs to get over yourself. I don't see how a post like could construed as immature; it's called having fun. If you're fed up with what you call the immaturity of some people around here, maybe this isn't the place for you. I say that most sincerely.

As for the decade argument, I say it's a new decade now. Don't we refer to the 60s or the 70s as a decade? Not 61-70. I did a search and it comes up both ways, some say the decade starts with the year ending in 0, some say 1. I say it really doesn't matter!

The amazing part of that scene is that it was primarily improvised, Pesci and Liotta would ad-lib in rehearsal then Scorsese would build the script around it.

Happy to be a Goodfellas fan for three decades now...

Spynet...your post was all in good fun. No problems here and I didn't see the band until 21 years after you did! I love reading about folks who saw the band in different eras. Keep posting this stuff folks.

StatDal is technically correct. The Western based calendard did start at year 1 (no 0) so the current decade does not end until Dec 31 2010. However, modern culture has come to call the years ending in 9 as the end of the decade. Thus it's become commonly accepted that we consider 90-99, 2000-2009 etc as decades with 2010 starting a new one (I knew that would be pointed out in this thread!).

I must be spending too much time in the Whipping Post!!!

I'm not angry at anyone, or about this thread. I'm just in WP mode, and feeling wound up because of some of the junk I read over there.

I've got to refrain from replying to threads when I'm tired, and grumpy.

Don't take it personal. I'm just moody because I'm not able to catch this years run, and I only wish I was able to see the band in the days when tickets were a few bucks, rather than a hundred. What does it cost to see a few shows these days? That's the math that's really tricky!!

I have no anger in my heart to you Spynet, or anyone else here. I'm sure you'd make my shoes look like mirrors.... lol Now, go get your shine box!!!

In good faith, and brotherhood, I'm dedicating these videos to you today in hopes
they will bring a smile to you. Enjoy!!

Wanee Approx. $168 give or take.

Two shows from our beloved ABB, not to mention upwards of 30 other bands.

So, $168 ticket:

Take away three nights of camping included at (estimating) $20/day

$108

Take away $20 per night for the 30 other bands (that estimate is low...way low)

That leaves $34 per night for the ABB, in a setting that you will never forget.

This is one of the most fascinating debates since the century began. I'm sure it was discussed but not to the degree it has escalated to since 2k.
The western calandar is based on Roman numerals which has no zeros, that is the only reason the debate exist I believe.
In all measures of time otherwise, time starts with a 0.

btw. I am Silvio
..Younger brother Ralph may sign on and post here under my name. I told him to make clear who he was from now on.
