We are all ABB fans here. As many know I am a Duane era fan. But I was wondering using ABB as our favorite band who is the band that you like but as far away from ABB sound that you get. Me it would be Return from Forever.

I really love his disco pop hit of the late Seventies.

Too bad he's had so much legal trouble these days....

Digging deep here...

New Order
early Nine Inch Nails
early Ministry

I also like a lot of stuff that, while blues, to my ears doesn't sound a thing like the Brothers.. like John Hurt.

never heard of the Decemberists, but I'd agree with Radiohead. I can dig them in sparse amounts, and they have a completely different approach to music recording and performance. I can also tolerate some Violent Femmes.

I guess I need to check out the Decemberists...

Their album "Crane Wife" is amazing.

Early Ministry... You do not like Psalm 69? That is a fantastic album, it scared the sh*t out of me as a kid.

Pretty amazing that I like most of the above here, too. Primus especially -- I was in nerd heaven when Primus opened up for Rush here in the early nineties. I don't care much for Sepultura though, and I don't know the Hackensaw Boys, but I'm with you on the rest.

Yeah I do like that album, but I like the stuff from A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste (I think?) better, with "Thieves" and stuff. And my favorite Ministry song will always be "Stigmata" -- THAT is a driving riff.

Also I shouldn't have said "early Ministry" at all because they had some terrible-sounding early **** e IMO.

High octane bluegrass.... Great stuff, highly recommend seeing them live.
