For riffs - Iommi and for crazy ass classical leads - Blackmore. Looking at it, it doesn't really seem like an answer.

I like Ritchie better, however, the riff master is awesome.

Both!

If I wanted to hang out and jam with one of them, definitely Toni. He doesn't take himself as seriously as Blackmore does.

Well, right now, I'd go with Iommi since he's still playing rock music, but Blackmore was good before he quit playing rock music.

Iommi

I just like his guitar tone better. Sabbath Rules.
and to invent his own prostheses to be able to keep playing is
a testament to his spirit and love for music.

I dig Rainbow the most also. the live in Munich 76 CD gets a lot of play on Monkey Hill.
and I have Machine Head on Dvd-audio.

I admire both of these fine musicians.

This response works just fine for me as well. Ritche is great but a little too sullen and moody for my taste.

I'm betting Tony would be better company...

according to some folks that saw Blackmore's Night and met with Richie after the show ,they found him
to be a very pleasant gentleman.

I guess folks only remember the dude that busted a $70,000 camera at Cal Jam.

Both are riff-monsters. Very tough call, and great question. Consider how many musicians have played in both of these guys' bands!!!

Blackmore does improvise more live; he is a more advanced lead guitar player, IMO. However, he also dicks around beyond belief live, sometimes just serving up noise rather than playing melody.
