With hundreds of channels, I find I watch re-runs of Seinfeld, King of Queens, 70's show, and stuff like that. I haven't found a new show to watch since Desperate Housewives. Even HBO doesn't seem to have anything since Entourage, and Curb. Any recommendations???? I can't be the only one that feels this way. HELP!!! and Thank you my peachy family...

I haven't had a TV or a land line phone in years.

I get everything off of the web now.

Is there anyone under the age of 40 who still has a land line phone?

If so, tell us why.

Back to the original topic, the only thing I would watch on TV if I still had one would be MLB or the news. But the truth is I get all MLB games pumped into my laptop for $15 a month. All network shows can be found online for free. The one network show I look for is Lost, unless you count South Park as a network show.

In my opinion, in ten years TVs will be as obsolete as Myspace or floppy disks.

Really enjoy 'Modern Family' and 'The Middle'. Before that 'Pushing Daisies'. 'Sons Of Anarchy' looks promising.

Can't stand reality TV, because it ain't.

We mostly watch the History Channel, Food Channel, HGTV, Tru, or the news. Tired of all the bad news lately so we watch most of the other stuff. All the survivor type shows etc.
Sometimes I will watch Scrubs. Thats about it along the sitcom line.

Anna, I think it's fine you do not have a TV.
There are many reasons to still keep a landline hooked up though.
Most important one's
if you need 911...help finds you if you can't talk.
connect to the Internet.
Incoming calls are free.
If the power goes out, you can still use your phone.
Privacy.
Phone books still really only list landline numbers for businesses and residential.
That is only scratching the surface.

Too me, it is only saving a few dollars to cut your cord that is the benefit.
I'm not presuming to tell you how to spend your money, but when you weigh it all out, the scale is tipped torwards keeping a hardline.
...so many cool looking phones out there too, make a statement in your home.

The Office
finally got talked into watching it a few months back- ended up buying seasons 1-5 on DVD because I was getting all twisted up watching the re-runs out of sync.
Funniest show on TV right now in my opinion.

Well, I'm not under 40, but I still have a land-line. Cell service can be spotty at my home, and I hate the digital artifacts of VOIP telephony, so for $60/mth for unlimited calling, I'm keeping my land-line for now.

I mostly agree about nothing on TV. The problem is summed up in the Inverse Law of TV Viewing, which states: the more channels available, the less you'll find worth watching.

There are a few things I like though...

Burn Notice (mostly for Gabrielle Anwar, grrrrrr...)
Fringe
24
Top Gear
Archer (recently discovered on FX; an animated, adult comedy)
House
True Blood
Lost
Damages
McLaughlin Group

Or this reason. My daughter and her boyfriend don't have a land line and she lost her phone.

hey annarose,

we do have a landline (34 yrs old) but only because we have three kids 5 and under in the house. it is tied to our alarm system and gives us a phone that is 99.9% to work in case of an emergency. it also gives us a phone in the main floor, second floor and basement.

when the kids are older and in school, bye bye landline.
