Sometimes when you are gettin "tall" there is one album that you really want to listen to. For me I need to hear anything with Oteil in it. It seems like I get more locked in to what he is doing during my altered state especially during the jams. That dude always lays me out with what he is doing during the really quick jams like Rockin Horse or Desdemona. Here are my top 5 in no order. Yall Recomend some for me. Peace Confused

1. Frogwings
2. Black Crowes, Amorica
3. Black Crowes 2-19-97
4. Allman Bros 9-19-03
5. Vida Blue, Illustrated Band

Here's some of the stuff I used to love to listen to when I used to smoke Newports.

(in no order)
Kind of Blue-Miles Davis
Blood on the Tracks-Bob Dylan
5/8/77-Grateful Dead
Piper at the gates of dawn, Umma Gumma/Darkside/Animals-Pink Floyd
Live with a little help from our friends-Gov't Mule
Physical Graffitti-Led Zeppelin

The Black Crowes' Amorica is a great album to listen to when you're faded, from lack of sleep...

Oteil's stuff is good, no matter what your elevation or altitude happens to be. "Family Secret" is quite enjoyable, no matter what your mental/physical/metaphysical condition is. As a matter of fact, it's my personal favorite ABB spin-off project.

A good album to listen to whilst "enhanced" is Wilco's "Summerteeth". It's like a mix of Dark Side of the Moon-Sgt. Pepper's-Pet Sounds rolled (pun intended) into one.

You guys are missing it! The coolest, most far out trippin' album of all time. Throw out the Floyd, the Airplane, the Dead, and all, this guy could mesmorize ya. Mr Tamborine Man? I heard Dylan almost gave up performing it after hearing this version. I mean how can you top the Captain doing it? And the biggest gem, skip right to it for a quicker trip, is Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. I mean, surreal is not the word. What were the Beatles thinking? After hearing this done the way it should have, wow!

Man, of course I don't indulge, but I bet listenin to Soul Serenade from dTb, especially Afro Blue, whilst impaired would be incredible. Yon Rico, tapping, coloring, thumping....he IS the groove, Kofi and his amazing keyboard and flute, Todd, coaxing wonderful bottom end groove from his bass, Derek, playing straight from the heart... alot to listen to, and well worth the time for a serious, impaired, and critical listen...when Derek and them really fall into the groove, there is nothing like it in all of rock, cept for maybe the ABB....

Gotta go with Dark Side of the Moon on this . . . or to dig a little deeper, some of the straight "Musical Starstreams" type stuff . . . Tangerine Dream, Synergy, etc.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I wouldn't know much about the enhanced-impaired state of mind to begin with. This stoner guy that I know told me that those were good tunes to doob to. I wonder if somewhere, in some army if a guy with the last name of Stoner was ever denied a promotion from captain because they didn't want a major Stoner in the army?

Ben Harper - Burn One Down seems pretty appropriate. It's on the Fight For Your Mind album.

You could have been my roommate in College.

Friday nights we would burn and put on Meddle, then Dark Side. Then we would zone out.

I have a lot of Dream also.

Peace
John

I'll second that. I've actually done it and had one of the best times of my life. I thought I saw Mr. Fantasy that night. Damn mushrooms. I'd like to add to this that "using" is a personal decision. Sometimes life changing. My perception of reality has definitely changed since tripping. That's not always a bad thing, but I feel as if I have become more "enlightened" so to speak since using mushrooms. I feel like I learn something new each time I do them.

Sandman, I'm gonna go buy that Spacemen 3 album...

Momentary Lapse of Reason is such an underrated Floyd album. I need to revisit that one. It's been a long time

MLOF? Momentary Lapse of Floyd, perhaps? I don't know which one's Pink, but whoever he is, he certainly didn't show up on that album.

I'm just yanking your chain, John (and all other fans of the twilight Floyd). In that whole scene, I line up firmly in the Waters camp, that's all.
