My experience is that most everyone in this business sells merchandise. I'm guessing YOU would too. Don't see why you think this is news. It's the way they make a living. Hope someone's paying you for whatever you do.

That's how I refer to them.

Sad.

Defining "selling out" is a lot like defining Promiscuity

The definition of promiscuity = anyone who gets laid more than you do

The definition of selling out = anyone who gets paid more than you do.

As I always say, vote with your pocketbook. If buying a $40 Who?Two? shirt floats someone's boat god bless Pete and Roger!!!

why such hate for the WHO? They sell a few Tshirts and a coffee mug and they have sold out? I can't wait to buy a Allmans T shirt in march! Nothing but love for the WHO.

"Apples and oranges."
I don't get the analogy. Both bands have of half their original members. Pete Townsend has always been the main artistic influence for the Who,as well as providing a fair amount of the lead vocal, with Roger Daltrey providing most of it.

Yep, my first post. Have been a member here for many years and have always enjoyed reading what is said and getting all of the latest on one of my all time favorite bands. Guess I decided it is time to finally open my mouth
and say something. Also a big fan of the Who.

Can't we just retire the term "selling out" when it comes to musicians? They are like the rest of us mostly, and want to maximize their income from whatever skills they possess. They are not some holy men who have taken a vow of poverty.

Delper, please do not hesitate to open your mouth! I'd say welcome but you registered before me. I'll be seeing EC soon w/ Daltrey, a/k/a the one!

They are all sellouts today. So what. These great bands maybe have 5 years left and then they will be gone forever. They make their money today off of merchandise and ticket sales. If you don't like it, don't pony up the cash. It's called supply and demand and it works. If The Who are charging too much for their T-Shirts, they will have them for years to come, if not, they will sell out.

I hope Zak Starkey is the drummer. He really blew me away the last time I was able to catch The Who.

i happen to think the who is one of the greatest bands in the history of rock and roll....in their prime perhaps the best...i also happen to be a huge allman brothers fan and consider them my favorite band...that said,i think the allman brothers managed to deal with replacing band members in a way that kept them much more vital than the who...but,to be fair both bands are carrying on with replacements for the original core so the criticism of the who is unfair and unjust....the who had in my view the best bass player in rock and the most exciting drummer in rock..both gone...but the only person in the band who could not have been replaced is townsend who writes all the music and of course plays lead guitar...no band without townsend,in my view the current band while called the who is really a pete townsend solo effort with roger daltry along for the ride!..no disrespect meant to daltry

Amen. Don't understand the idea behind many of the postings here since all bands I am aware of sell merchandise.
