Hello everybody,

I wonder if anyone else out there named his kid after their favorite musician?
I named my son Rory after Rory Gallagher.
My son was born a few months after Rory Gallagher died (in 1995).
Earlier that year i saw one of Rory Gallagher's last shows. He collapsed during a tour in the Netherlands.
It was obvious to everbody that evening that he was in a very bad shape.
He could barely finish his show and played a short and sloppy set very unlike his usual blistering performances. Back than i already had his name in mind (in case it would be a boy) but when i read about his death in my local newspaper i felt terrible.
It was difficult to understand so much pain about losing someone that i did not know in person.
I decided there and then that my first born would be called Rory whether it would be a boy or a girl. Fortunally my girlfriend agreed upon the name (she liked the name and also likes RG).
By the way my son so far doesn't play guitar and doesn't wear chequered shirts so don't worry i'm not brainwashing him to become a guitar heroe.

Long Live Rory Gallagher

My Daughter Sarah..was not named after a musician..but she was named after the song "Sarah" by Thin Lizzy (not the one by Starship). Her Mom loved that song.

Rory is a cool name..and I loved Rory Gallagher...had those flannel checkered shirts on..both times I seen him. He left us way to soon.......

Kenny

I was going to name Abi, Abbey Road but I changed it to Abigail Sage after I saw her.

My friends daughter is named Indigo, after Indigo Girls. Another friend has a son named Free after the band Free.

My son's name is Keith Richard. Not really named after Keef but it worked out well.

Talk about a role model.

I'm too young to have kids, but, uh, my parents named one of their kids after a favorite musician.

Trying to get Jerry or Duane past my better half whilst we were expecting our firstborn was a thankless task! Neither are exactly what you'd coall popular names, on this side of the pond.

I then held out for a long while on Miles (Davis) as a middle name, but eventually caved in to spouse pressure - still, though he doesn't know it yet (he's only 4), my boy Sean will always inextricably be associated with Mr Connery in my mind, so it wasn't a complete defeat!

I named my dog, a large white Kuvasz, Django. I thought about getting a chihuahua and naming him Reinhard but figured Django didn't need the competition.

Django's nickname is Stagger Lee.

Courtney, barb? I missed that one.

If pets count, I know Frim Jolley named his dog Duane Allman.

When I went to buy my dog the owner brought out the puppys grandfather, a 175lb newfoundland named "Charlie Daniels" what a beauty. Oh , my daughter is Melissa.

I had a dog named Todd (after Todd Rundgren...he was a basset hound, long face and long ears...looked just like him).
My black cat is named Stevie Ray
And I had a goldfish for about 3 years named Gregg Allman ;-)
He had a bowl mate named Mick Jagger (Take a look at a goldfish's lips). lol

I wasn't a huge U2 fan or anything, but I liked the name Joshua, my son's name, who was born around the time Joshua Tree was popluar, so he tells his friends that he was named after a U2 album. lol

If we ever have a son, I'd like to name him Homer....

All those home runs he'd hit in Yankee Stadium would be really cool with a name like Homer Sands
