I always like to support my home town by speding my money there.
We have a very good Japanese reaturant with some very interesting sushi rolls, and I personally know the chef there. I always sit at the sushi bar and he comes up with some great creations and recommendations for rolls and sashimi. What about you?

I live in eastern Nassau County in NY. The next town over has a wine bar/small plates restaurant. You can sit on couches, have a "wine flight" (3 small pours) and a bit to eat. Like sitting around your family room

Susie and I avoid chain restaurants at all cost. We are always in search of "local dives".

Kyle Fletcher's for BBQ in Gastonia NC,
The Beacon for hamburgers in Spartanburg SC.
RO's in Gastonia for more hamburgers/hotdogs etc.
The River Rat in Lake Wylie SC for entree dinners.
And for Seafood we love
Palmetto Seafood in York SC and
The Fish House on Oak Island.
Bimini's in North Myrtle Beach for oyster shooters and steam shrimp

Visits to the above are every once in a while cause we love eating and cooking our dinners at home. Nothing like cooking on the grill with a few very cold lip sticking cold beers.........I know, I said cold twice!!!!

Russell's Seafood Grill and Raw Bar in Murrells Inlet, SC. I've turned a few folks from here on to Russell's, Brofan and Bluefox.

Fresh seafood!!! Grilled Mahi, grouper or if available Hog Snapper. The steak are awesome as well.

Also more Allman Brothers on the free play juke box than anywhere.

My favorite local restaurant? Perhaps I haven't made myself clear:

Taste of Peru
6545 N. Clark St.
Chicago, Illinois

http://www.tasteofperu.com/

edit: I guess I need a "why." The food is fan-fricking-tastic! If you're looking for one of their signature dishes try the Arroz con Mariscos (paella) or Lomo Saltado (interesting beef and rice dish). On my last visit I went a little deeper into the menu, and tried the Camarones al la Diabla - whew! Smokin' hot. You'll want them to keep your water glass filled for that one. And of course, Taste of Peru is owned by our very own Chicagofan.

TRAMONTI
Italian Ristorante
Downtown Delray Beach on East Atlantic

Wonderful food. Recommended to us by New York Italians. LOL

Go for lunch and sit outside on the sidewalk cafe. Lunch is less expensive than dinner.
Don't go on a Sat. night, not even with reservations. With reservations we waited an hour.
Now we go for lunch. Same great food.

Best appetizer in town: Baked Mozzarella with homemade tomato sauce...unbelievable!

All pastas are good and great sauces. Hmmm...making myself hungry!

Lamont St. Grill

Located on a side street in Pacific Beach, San Diego... it's an older home that has been turned into a dining experience that rates with best local spots in So.Cal. Full bar, A well thought out wine list... everything from braised Rack of lamb to chopped salads, I highly recommend this place if you find your self in this fine city with the under achieving Pro football team.

Chuy's in Simi Valley. Kick back place with all the chips and salsa you can eat. The staff is nice and they get a kick out of Strat Jr.

If I want to kick it up a notch, I like going to Don Cucos. Yum! Yum!

Living in Macon, the H& H is one obvious choice. Ingleside Pizza is great. Good to Go and , if you know your way around, the Cox Cafe are good home cooking lunch places. Jim Shaw's is good for seafood.

The Plaza Restaurant in Thomasville , Georgia . Run by the same Greek family since the turn of the century . They serve 5 star quality food at very reasonable prices , fantastic beer and wine selection , and it's just a cool place to take the family .

Call me corny , but I like the fact that the brothers that now run the place come sit at your table and have a chat . I don't think they've spent a thin dime to update the decor since the 60's , and that's just how I like it . It reminds me of places my grand parents took us to when I was a kid .

I'm originally from Nassau County, Long Island. Before/after Islanders Games and concerts at Nassau Coliseum, I'd frequent a great Italian restaurant called Borrelli's. It is located on Hempstead Turnpike about a half mile east of the Coliseum. Definitely the best pizza around. Also the other Italian dishes are great too.

Sally's Pizza in New Haven is the best pie on Earth. There is more great apizza in New Haven than anywhere, incl NYC, but this is the best.

My sweetie Wallace is working down in Thomasville, GA right now, I'll turn him on to this place. He likes a place called Mom & Dad's there.

The Tampa Bay Brewing Company in Centro Ybor, Tampa FL. Frist they have outstanding beer. If you are a hoppy beer fan, their IPA is something special. But beyond the beer, their food is excellent. Plenty of traditional pub fare, but also a good deal of more gourmet offerings. To top it off, the owners are there almost every night & will join you for a beer or just stop by to say hello.
