This might be the wrong crowd , but they are touring the US starting in the spring and offered a fan club pre sale that seemed to work VERY nicely .

I think that both of them are a must see if you've never seen them before . Taylor still tours but King does a few shows a year and I've never seen her and I think she's one of those singer/songwriters that is a must see before she stops playing.

They are doing a " in the round " style show with a stage that will move so slowly that you will not even notice that it's moving ( their words )
No charge to join the fan club .
Pre sale - These were the BEST seats in the house given to the artists to sell prior to the AmEx pre sale and regular sale . ( their words )
4 tix max
I got 4 floor seats , with the actual seats being told to you within 6 weeks . So you got floor seats but didn't know what row when you were ordering. You did not have another option, floor seats or nothing .
ALL tix must be picked up at box office window .
Tix were $150 ea. plus about $25 in misc handling fees .Making it $175 at tix .
I have NO problem paying $75 for each artist . Heck I pay over $100 to see the ABB.
This particular show will be at Madison Square Garden ( MSG ) NYC .

Just wanted to share ......

Carol King is wonderful. Shes a very talented and charming lady. Too bad the world lost Laura Lyro so young. She was another great lady to catch in concert

It just seems a little steep for a show that really won't be much of a show. I understand that performers today make their money off of concerts and not album/CD sales. I just have trouble paying that much money for a show that I could really just sit at home at home and listen to the CD's and get the same experience. I am sure they will sound great, but for $175 a ticket (350 a pair), I could come close to purchasing both artists catalogs and having them forever?

What makes you say it won't be much of a show ?

Again , wouldn't you pay $75 to see either one of them solo ? That's more than a fair price for either of them on their own.

If you're comparing purchasing their catalogs to seeing them live , I respectfully think you're missing the picture here .....

Should I skip the ABB shows because I can purchase their catalog for what it would cost to see a few Beacon shows ?

i have a pair of tickets for the jt/carol king show in tampa.2 floor seats in the first 20 rows. it will be a long six weeks waiting to see what row i get.now i saw jt at a small venue in ft, myers last year and his band is top notch. and his music is timeless.so i am looking forward to a nice sunday nite in june ,when i go to this one!!from a concert fan that attends all kinds of shows, including those 3 abb shows on the 40th tour.

i think the point is that an allman brothers show is 3 hours of jamming and improvising that is different on each night whereas james taylor/carole king is essentially a recitation of what you hear on record....and i tend to agree

MSG is June 15th , gonna be tough for 4 couples to find sitters on a Tuesday night . My mom will take off work the next day if I ask her too , so if we can't find a sitter we're still covered and it's a heck of a lot cheaper : )

Well worth the money for the tix in my opinion.

I'd go see them if I could. Great artists. I don't know if you can really count all the music Carole King wrote or co-wrote. SO many great tunes she was involved in the writing of. In the 70's, I thought she was beautiful and had an adolescent crush on her. James has always been cool with me. I saw him once in the early 80's in Indy. Steamroller Blues, baby!

Don't know what the lawn seats will cost, but the pair is going to play Tanglewood over July 4th. Nothing like the lawn at Tanglewood with a picnic and a bottle of good wine

I believe the Tanglewood Lawn seats are $80 ea. Not your typical lawn seat price, but then again it's Tanglewood. I went to summer camp just a stones throw from there. I've been there many times as a kid but not since.
All of the good seats for Tanglewood are sold to the season tix holders and the pre sale had a very very limited few reserved seats for sale but otherwise it was only lawn seats.

Camp Mohawk I think it's in Lanesboro ?

It's been a day camp since the mid 80's but prior to that it was a sleep away camp since the 60's.

We just did a full scale reunion there in 08' and now planning the one summer or 10' .

I remember Mohawk. I was at White Oaks in Nassau, NY. Last full reunion about 6 years ago. A few mimi-ones. Camp peaked late 60's through late 70's. Closed in 94 I think. I was there 69-77.

have to think hard about this one. I've seen JT recently - he still has it. And. like someone said, Carole King wrote more great songs than anybody except Lennon-McCartney and Dylan.

Tanglewood sounds pretty good right about now.

Tanglewood is a beautiful place to see a concert.

No Milwaukee date and the venue they are playing at in Chicago is hideous, so sadly I will not have a chance to see them.

$150 for those two?

I won't pay $150 for the ABB.

Since when do artists need to gross over a million dollars for a tour?

Prices are just a little out of control.

I was really looking forward to this show, as I truly love JT's work and to see him again would be wonderful. To see him with Carole King would be a trip, but $150 is a lot for this. The experience would be great, but the show would be the same most nights, so I must pass.

The mixed good news is that at this price the artists will keep the money since the scalpers can't work in that range

I stand by my original statement ,that they are two of the most talented singer /songwriters EVER and if you have the ability to see them on this tour ..... It's a no brainer.
