As far as I can tell , the whereabouts of guitars once owned by Duane and Dickey are well-known and documented . What about the Hammonds G.A. has used over the years ? I've heard there's one of his rigs in the Big House , but what about the others ?

Employees of a local music store, Oden Piano Company, told me they had one of Gregg's former B-3's. This was around 2001. Don't know if it's true.

Never heard of any ....... Did see on Hank lll 's site that he had a thing called lll-bay[ threebay ]

and sold his old gear, his self.... Then on Leon Russell's site , he had some old gear & old truck set up for recording at one time , a few ugly old chairs & lamps , a bunch of shop tools & such ...... more like Leon's yard sale on line.....

I guess it's all got to go some where.....

Oh yeah ..... I was in Nashville at a guitar shop & over heard some guy's talking about Garry Talent was having a yard sale that day & were going to check it out for gear.....LOL....

One of Gregg's old B3's is in the GA Music Hall of Fame and another is in The Big House Museum. I don't think Gregg has any particular B3 he keeps around for historical purposes, but I could be wrong.

We all know the B3 is the cat's meow as far as organs are concerned, but have you ever been in a band where you had to load in and load out a B3...gig after gig?

Did it one time, got it out of my system. As part of the deal that brought the Derek Trucks Band here, I had to agree to "roadie." One of the tasks was for 4 of us to take a corner of Kofi's B-3, lift it up high enough for a box to be slid under it. Then get it on the truck. I was 55, but we got 'er done.

Yes

Box truck with a lift gate or a trailer. Roto Dollies and 2 - 4 strong guys to get it on the stage. If you have a lift gate it's not that bad and if you have 4 guys that will work together it really isn't that bad for the sound quality you get. There have been few gig where it's not feasible, 100 stairs no elevator but even a couple of stairs it can be done, If you really want that sound...

Bupp, I can't count how many times I have helped my bud, Patrick, load his Hammond into the back of his pickup, just the two of us. It'll make you old, real quick.

Gregg pulls a trailer behind his bus with two B3s, he has a spare if one is a problem.

I wonder what ever happened to his first B3 that had been painted yellow!

There is definitely one of Gregg's B3s in the GMHF. I've seen it.

the first time i saw the brothers during the second or third song gregg's organ gives out. the roadies had it swapped out in no time. gregg goes "a man can't work with a busted organ!".

A friend of mine was a keyboard player in a local band back home in Kalamazoo. He had a B3 that he only used for gigs that were more than one night. He had to take the front door off of his house to get it out. We liked to joke that it was a special night when Dave whipped out the big organ.

Yeah, we used to introduce Patrick as "the man with the biggest organ in town..."

There's a copy of the gig contract on the insert in the Stonybrook 9/19/71 CD. In a handwritten clause, it says,"Producer must provide Hammond B-3 + 2 Leslies." Maybe someone else had to lug that one around?

I worked for a moving company while in college. Me and one other guy picked up a B-3 here in Birmingham and had to deliver it in Louisville, KY. The pick up was easy - backed the truck up to a loading dock and rolled it right in. Got to the destination and found it had to go up to the 3rd floor. You guessed it! No elevator! We actually got it up there - just the two of us. I never wanted to even hear one of those SOB's for about a year after that!

I was in a band that the guy had a B3 and Leslie bottom and it took 4 of us to move the thing. That thing was heavy. If you guys remember the ABB contracts call for the B3 to be provided by the promotors.
