WTF? Jay Leno is an unfunny, egomaniacal douche. His new primetime show sucks, Conan has no lead-in at 11:30, and Leno takes his 11:30 slot back. What a sh!tty, sh!tty move on the part of NBC AND Leno. Conan should take his breach of contract money and split to FOX.

I doubt that Leno or Conan are fantastic wholesome people. Comedy, like
Rock and Roll, is a ROUGH business.

Perhaps NBC has been looking for a wholesome, persistent & Non-Judgmental host in all of the wrong places.

I think since Conan has moved to the Tonight Show the material has gone down hill. While it seems Leno has the same writers, I don't really care much for the format. In my opinion, NBC should have left Leno on the Tonight Show and Conan with Late Night.

Never watch Leno, unfunny hack IMO, always watch Dave.

Used to switch to Conan after Dave. not since he moved head to head with Dave.

If NBC had an ounce of sense they would just offer the Late night slot to Steve Martin. Leno gets the hour after Steve and Conan gets a bus ticket.

Letterman is great if you like a guy who says something and then laughs at himself for a few minutes.
And Leno doesn't laugh when he delivers a punchline?

Letterman goes on and on with it. Cut to Paul Shaffer. More laughter. Back to Letterman. Repeat the punchline. Cut to Paul. Paul tells Letterman he's funny. Back to Letterman. More laughter....
Not trying to be disagreeable, Otie, but I see the same banter between Leno and Kevin Eubanks. It's just what they do. Carson had McMahon and Severensen, only Letterman and Leno combined those positions and now have a sidekick that laughs with them AND conducts the band.

From what I've read, Leno has been the good soldier through this. The decision for him to leave the Tonight Show was not made by him but by NBC and he accepted the move with class and dignity. When the deadline for him to pass the torch to Conan arrived (Jay would have stayed if asked), NBC was (and still is) the #4 network. Realizing Leno's popularity (he was still trouncing Dave in the ratings) NBC thought it would be a great idea to put him in prime time to help boost their putrid ratings. Jay wasn't warm to the idea but what the he!!, he was going to be paid a small fortune for it and was happy to take the check. Now NBC is scrambling to fix a big mistake because not only have their prime time ratings have sagged even more Letterman has also taken over the late night ratings. They are also trying to figure out what to do with what they consider to be their two most marketable personalities without further bruising their egos. Leno will probably do whatever NBC asks because they will pay him just about whatever he wants which is probably why he's kept his mouth shut through all of this. Conan is a different story, have to wonder if this was a career ending move for him. Regardless, NBC is a mess and heads will roll.

I think pretty much the late nite shows in general all started going down hill years ago.Of course once Johnny the 'King of late nite left" it all started to digress slowly. Nbc actually lied and screwed Letterman , when he was not given the tonite show.Although Jay Leno a likeable guy in my eyes was never the interviewer that his guests were ever really comfortable.I gravitrated to Dave because of the quirkiness, and the new york feel the show had.Jay had some good bits, but other than that enjoyed Dave his band his on the street crap and what ever.Years ago for what its worth in the early 80.s living in LA used to see JOhnny and the tonite show a lot. And a few years back got to check out Dave at the ed sullivan theatre live and enjoyed the regimented experience. Conan sucks, he always has and is just not engaging or close to funny,Nothing else to be said!! Give Jay back his late nite spot, kill the rest and ina few years nobody will give a **** about any of them, Bring back the Midnite special,, and feel blessed if your my age you saw the best in the business, when you saw HERE"S JOHNNY !!!

Talks shows suck, bunch a pompous BS imo. They've become unwatchable ever since Carson went got old and Phil stopped being original and reasonably intelligent.

Conan is to Leno and Letterman what Duane was to Lawler and Cobb: so much better that it's sickening.

I think Conan should switch to Fox and show both Leno and Letterman that he's the king of late-night.

It is similar to New Coke when it came out. It allowed Pepsi to grow. Then they brought back the old Coke to try and remedy the problem. Should have never screwed with it to begin.

I don't really like Leno or Conan much. Prefer Letterman if I had to chose but don't watch him often. TV has obviously changed so much and we get hundreds of channels so finding something better to watch is pretty easy. Sports is everywhere and with time change you can watch all night.

The talk shows bother me because they treat musicians like second class citizens while playing up to movies and television. They will have awesome musicians play and barely talk to them. In some cases it is even worse. Letterman will have a guy like Clapton sit in all night and barely speak to him. They interviewed two lame actors and did stupid Pet tricks and wasted lots of time with useless talk. The whole while there is a guy who is a giant part of R&R history who has been inducted to the HOF three times. Why would you possibly interview him?

I don't blame Letterman because they all do it.

As for laughing at themselves and having there sidekicks, Dave is bang on. They all do the same thing and it is a copy of Carson. Not sure how that could be denied. Sure you may prefer one guy over the other but they do the same thing. Ferguson actually goes against that and I think he is the freshest and funniest right now.

None of this effects me at all.

The ONLY one I ever watch is Letterman. A supremely good show imo.

Leno is completely un-funny
Conan is completely un-funny
And Ferguson is by far the worst, imo. I find it stunning that that guy get a gig on a TV comedy show. Incredible.

The earlier recommendation of Steve Martin is actually very good. Another good one would be Robin Williams

The people who have been picking these hosts must be insane.

Message to Johnny Carson: You are missed.

Move The Daily Show and The Colbert Report up and hour, put Conan in the 11pm slot, and own cable viewership indefinitely.

I like Ferguson. I also like Conan but I can understand some people not getting his humor. Dave seems a little full of himself. I loved Dave back in the 80's but not so much anymore.

Give Zach a shot at the top!

I hardly ever watch these guys. I have to get up at 4:30am for work, so late night television is out--not even the Leno thing at 10pm. I try and catch the Daily Show at 7pm(previous night's rerun) but it interferes with Jeopardy. At any rate these shows at least beat out all that reality crap on tv.

Letterman definitely got the shaft when they gave the Tonight Show to Leno, but on rare occasions when I do catch his show he's pretty funny.

As far as interviewing the musical acts, I don't think these guys have much to say about how much time the network will devote to the band. They may say to the artist, you get five minutes air time, you want to play or talk?
