i didnt buy tickets in the pre-sale and thought i would try to get tickets in the regular tocketmaster sale but i forgot about that this morning and figured i would be too late and locked out...but to my astonishment i can get tickets right up front for almost every show in the first few rows....now,dont get me wrong....i am pleased to be able to get the tickets but this is the first time i have seen tickets this plentiful and available and this is for only 8 shows!...i have to assume that the change in venues to united palace on 175th street is to blame.....in any event it appears tickets will not be all that hard to come by this year......

Welcome to the internet, where people will find the downside to anything.

The move uptown might be discouraging people, but don't forget how bad the economy is and how many people are out of work. I expect they'll still sell out eventually and add some more shows.

It's great that we can get tickets - the debacle would be if not enough sell due to loacation and then they don't announce any add'l shows! I'm hoping for 5 more at least

i clearly said i am glad to be able to get good tickets but commented that it seems to me that since i had never been able to get tickets so easily that i attribute it to the new venue and the difficulties it brings about...beacon tickets were scooped up almost immediately and all i am saying is that it appears to me that people are declaring their negative feelings concerning the united palace by simply not buying tickets or as many tickets!

I did not know there was an AMEX presale until someone posted it this am. I went and looked around 1030 and there were some fairly close in seats, but way left or right. Beware the seat #'s! I'm not paying $150 to sit 10th row against the side wall.

Lots of good seats available in the presales.....Just like it was before Dolan took over The Beacon. MSG Entertainment venue choice tickets always seem to be gobbled up with a quickness. United Palace has a different promoter, the same one that runs Wellmont Theatre, right? Wellmont tickets are sold front of the house to back of the house, like they should be. MSG Entertainment/Beacon often have presales to sell the back and sides of the venue.

for crying out loud,as one who has probably been to 50 beacon shows i am just pointing out that the move to the united palace seems to have resulted in less demand for tickets...my point is simply that the new venue while making it easier to procure tickets it appears has it seems created less demand for shows and at least in my case quite a bit more inconvenience...i used to go to numerous shows when they were at the beacon and i will not go to nearly as many this year due to the inconvenience for me.....perhaps i am wrong,we shall see but in the past i never saw so many prime seats available at this point...

NYC is a big ass city and the ABB will sell seats just fine, I am sure of it. I'll see them in FL in April...and hopefully in GA this summer.

From what I gather a lot of the out of towners are gonna take a pass this year. That, the size of the theater, and prices in this economy should make tickets more available than in recent years. I believe the United Palace holds about 600 more people per show than the Beacon. People say it has the same vibe but in pictures it reminds me more of the Tower in Philly than the Beacon.

Also, the year *after* the 40th Anniversary celebration is going to have a bit less shine to it. They were promising the most incredible lineup of guests you could imagine last year (while trying to keep secrets). I couldn't really afford it last year, but I found a way to get there, luckily for the first Clapton night.

Bound to have a hangover in year 41, IMO.

I wouldn't call it a debacle, but i agree that a combination of the economy and the relocation may limit the number of shows this year. I too had an easier time in the presale (3/19 FF) and might have attributed it to my ticketmaster skills. But, I tried again 10 minutes later and there were some KK floating around. For the second (and possibly last) Friday night I have never has such luck. Hope I get as lucky with the 2nd Friday as I did last year (Clapton)

I suspect that any fall off in demand will be more the result of a bad economy than a change in venue.

Not sure. I live on LI - no big difference to me. I think the people who travel from afar will be fewer without the ease of the UWS central bonding location

The tix prices are way too high. $150 for all the good and decent seats. $100 for the rear orchestra with a good chance you will be under the loge/balcony. I think the tix sales are lagging; we'll find out soon enough when the regular onsale starts and then if they add any additional shows. It's not a good idea to set tix prices so high in such a poor economy, pricing a lot of fans out.

The primary reason I'm only going to one show this year has little to do with the venue. Since I drive in from CT it makes no difference to me whether I go to the UP or drive a few blocks further to The Beacon. Bottom line it's the economy and I just don't have the extra cash to go to multiple shows this year. Even 1 show was a question mark but I figured I'd do what I have to do to make at least one show. The ticket price is just the beginning. When you add dinner, drinks, parking etc. to the equation it makes for at least a $200 night out. If you're coming in from way out of town and have to figure air fare, hotels, 3 meals a day etc. with things the way they are I can see why many people would HAVE to take a pass this year.

Don't see anyone on edge. It's just a different economy than last year. The ABB is trying to maximize their ticket sales, yet is waiting to gauge the demand for more shows. They did this last year and won. This year we'll see
