IMO, this is sickening. I tried the Platinum search and 2 tix dead center in FF came up for 500/each plus charges. Ironically, the words I had to put in the ticketmaster box were "the cleaner". Yep, taking us to the cleaners about sums it up. I don't want an ABB show to come down to the rich and privileged down front. GA shows like Wanee & Jazzfest are the way to go.

At first i thought this was a thread about a weekend for Tiger Woods. Honestly, I'd rather see the band grab this cash rather than the scalpers. This is a legal way for them to do so. Hell, this is 2 burgers and a beer at the new Yankee Stadium so don;t feel too badly

Uhhh. If you wanna be down front for the Allmans at Jazzfest, you have to pay for a Grand Marshall Pass that is running $500 or $600 for the weekend the ABB is playing. Otherwise, you'll be slumming it with the rest of us.

I had a great spot at jazzfest in 2007. The only special seating was under the tent along the side and a small section off to the side of the stage up front. Has that changed?

Anyone know what you get with these special packages for the UP?

The small area in front of the stage isn't so small anymore. Its pretty much the entire front of the stage, several "rows" deep.

I can see paying that for a weekend full of music but one show. No thank you.

Sounds like the last and final NYC run prices to me. Otherwise, not worth it. Greed at a time like this . Sounds to me like these good ol' southern boys have forgotten where they came from.

You just need to vote with your wallet. They don't owe us anything. Unlike the sports teams who are semi-public-subsidized through tax breaks and selling "corporate" to companies that were bailed out by the government this is straight-forward capitalism. If no one bites, the tickets will go back into the general pool.

I paid $37 for Gregg Allman tickets at Penn's Peak and was right up front near Gregg. The prices for the ABB shows in NYC are ridiculous. They'll gross around 300,000 for each show plus all the memorabilia sales. You've got to commemorate the $400 evening with a few 40 dollar shirts and a poster right?

This has become common practice with bands. Some VIP packages are well over $1000. These usually come with meet and greets and more merchandise though. I find these prices pretty steep considering what you get.

I am not condoning this in any way, just pointing out that the ABB are not alone here. As mentioned, don't buy them if you think it is wrong or too expensive.

In truth, the whole NYC run is too expensive. A similar run could be done elsewhere for a much better price. Tickets, hotels and other expenses would be more affordable for all. Besides it would be nicer to go somewhere warmer if shelling out for a mini vacation.

Right. Jack up the already sky high ticket prices and throw in some trash and trinkets in an attempt to smoke and mirror value. Sickening.
Peace/out.

The rich and privileged have always been down front. This is not new.

What is new is that the rich folks paying into this now are usually not diehard fans and sometimes talk through the entire show, nudge people around them to sit down, etc. The good thing about them, however, is that they often don't stay for the whole show or don't show up at all and some more of us get to stand in their space.

While I'm not happy with the cost, I pulled the trigger on a pair for Friday 19th. It will likely be my only chance to see the boys this year, we are coming in from Toronto flying on points staying with friends and getting a weekend away and seeing the best band on the planet. Not justifying it but if travelling to see them I'm sitting up front, my two cents.

If you think it's to much, don't buy it. Get the lower priced seats . Almost every band and their mother do this now . I for one would never do this for any band

Ken

Did you buy one of the VIP packages?

It is nice to have a place to stay. Really cuts back on the expenses.
