I figure most people here listen to some form of rock n roll! Either classic rock or more modern sounds, or a combination.

Although FM radio has not been kind to rock these days as much as it used to be, there is probably at least one decent station for the genre in most major populated areas. One that plays the classics or the good modern rock tunes.

What is the name of the rock station that you listen to in your area. Do they have a decent song selection? How are the DJs? Has the radio station been on a decline or an upswing?

I'm just wondering what the radio is like in your area.

I live in southwestern CT. The big local classic rock station, I-95, stinks. It has stunk for years. Same old greatest hits, lotsa Boston and Steve Miller still, with Creed and Nickelback as "new."Awful.
99.1 WPLR out of New Haven has been on a decline toward the same for years, but they have somewhat better taste.
I mostly listen to the hit-and-miss-but-never-dull options of college station 91.7 WXCI or else local public radio/ NPR stations 89.5 WPKN and 91.1 WSHU.

All of the commercial FM radio station on Long Island suck. Same bands, same songs and tons of advertisements. I barely ever listen to FM radio these days. I either listen to AM talk radio or my I-POD.

They're all boring in So Cal except of 95.9 The Octopus in Ventura County. It actually plays ABB other than Rambling Man and Gregg solo other than I'm No Angel.

KLOS sounds just like it did on my bus rides in junior high and that was in the mid '70's... BORING.

We're blessed to have KPIG out here on the central coast of California. Exposed me over the years to some great artists like, Todd Snider, James McMurtry, Hellecasters, etc.... Also, they were the first station to broadcast online.

I only listen to the radio to listen to sports games that are blacked out on the TV.

Like most above...my local stations suck. Very predictable, same songs, same tired bands.

I don't listen, can't.

It has driven me to listen to either CD's, NPR or talk radio. Rarely sports talk (idiots) mostly conservative talk (not Hannity or Limbaugh) and occasionally liberal talk, yes we have one of those in town, a local guy ... some good laughs.

Scranton, PA's Rock 107 has never met a greatest hits CD it didn't like. However they play the same three hits over and over again. Their morning show - Daniels & Webster - has been telling the same jokes and pulling the same gags since the 1980's. It was fresh then...not so much now. Pop radio around here sucks too, as I'm sure it does everywhere especially if you don't like pop music or what passes for R&B these days. Modern country music pretty much makes me sick too. Thankfully I have thousands of CDs (seemingly more than any three radio stations around here combined) and satellite radio. Bluesville, Jam On, and Deep Tracks being a few of my faves on Sirius XM.

If I am listening to the radio, most likely its in my car. Then I find myself listening to talk radio. Most FM stations play the same music over and over and over. If I am going to listen to something over and over and over..............its going to be a band of my choosing.....lol. A friend of mind has just started a internet radio station. It sounds great. The tracks are what you don't normally hear on Radio. Here is a link and please check it out....

I agree John, the problem for me is....while driving, I'd love to have Sirius...but don't. So it's CD's and talk radio.

While at work, where I have access to the internets, I feel weird at my cubicle sitting there with headphones on. Occasionally people walk in to talk, or one of my cubey mates talks over the partitions ... so listening to online stations at work doesn't always work for me....

Don't try the radio station over the mountain from you. I live about 60 miles across the mountain from Asheville, and there isn't a decent radio station for miles. I've had XM for about 5 years now, and that's all I listen to anymore.
