yesterday i get a priority mail envelope with a request for a b&p that i offered on the DB site back on AUGUST 18th. he also sent a DB&GS show along with it to be cool, but i already have that show.

anyway, i get this dude's b*p on yesterday, October 21st. 2 full months later.

now, i guess the easiest thing to do would be to burn this show, but i no longer have it on my hard drive - and i don't even know where the show he wants is right now. i'm tempted to mail his disks back but don't want to be an A$$ hole...

what would you do? he's not a regular trader around there either, just fyi.

(and as a sidenote; my burner *really, my whole system * has been acting up lately so i've been trying to lay off trading for awhile till i get things fixed....which makes this all the more annoying)

Fix that darn computer system and offer up lots of B+Ps for all of us.
Seriously, I'd be tempted to send the discs back with a note. If you don't want to get stuck for the postage, email the person and be done with them. B+Ps should be done promptly, sent out within two days IMO.

I'd send it back to him with a note explaining that you already took it off of your hard drive. I'd explain everything to him, just like you did here. If he thinks you're being an a****, then he doesn't understand how this all works. If he had sent you a note earlier saying that he was gonna be delayed for whatever reason, that's one thing, but since he didn't do that, I would just send it back.

I believe this is a good chance to help educate a trader and teach him (or her) that B&Ps should be sent out in a VERY timely fashion. Send it back blank and instruct him on what is proper etiquette. The meter strip....how many times must we post the mcnichol link? Does anyone ever go there and read it?

One of our KNOWN BAD TRADERS at this site got in on the 7.30.03 B&P offer I made and I never got the B&P. He wrote me a couple of weeks ago, many weeks after the offer, and asked if he could still send it and I said yeah (I am too kind). I still don't have it. And he gets mad when we call him a bad trader....the first B&P I got from him, last year, had meter strips, fiber envelope, and was late. His name is Frank Schiazza. He really shouldn't be trading if he can't follow some simple rules. Sheesh.

Linnie.. I would send the package back ... 2 months later after the initial offer is a bit excessive. Bnp's are all done on a volunteer basis so the great music can be shared by all. If the person can't get the package out on time (reasonable time) then they will have there packages returned. After a while if they want to listen and share the new music they will develop a sense of urgency and think about the person at the other end.
At the end of the day its about fun and sharing the music. So when you drop the return package in the mailbox with the blanks make sure you have a smile on your face.

If I was in a really good mood (like I just won the lottery) I would rip and burn it and send with a never-again note. But most likely, I would send it back with a note about mailing so late. I'd put the person's name in the return addy so they get stuck with the postage if the PO does't accept the meter strip.

same here...

I'd PM him, to see if there we're any cirumstances, 'cause let's face it
we've all had times that we've all gotten a trade or BnP out later than we'd like
I am gulity of this at least 1 x (ok maybe 2 or 3 or 10) but there are real life situations that 'casue delays, and would be good to check out.
If the persons just being a slacker
than he probably does deserve a reutrn mailer with blanks in it.

I would find the show, burn it send instructions along for them to use in the future and cover the postage myself. Eveyone deserves one free ticket, I say. Second time from the same person after all that and they get dirty kitty litter.

Why should she have to track him down?? Common courtesy would say that he should have already PM'ed her to let her know it was going to be late, not the other way around.

If it doesn't have your return address on it drop in a public mailbox. and that person can pay the postage due.

Goliath, enjoy your nasty PM that you're sure to receive.

The "timeliness" issue you mention is exactly why when I make a B&P offer I always try to include the wording "your discs etc must be postmarked no later than X (or in this case XX) date." I also say that if they aren't that the discs will come back blank. (Truth is if it's still within a few days of the postmark deadline they're still going to get the show, but absolutely not two months later) I'm not trying to be unfair to anyone, but I am trying to be fair to me. And, what is unfair about offering someone something for virtually nothing particularly if the conditions and guidelines are spelled out prior to the person taking one of the offer spots? Isn't taking a spot and then not following up being unfair to others that would be delighted to have the show but weren't able to post in time?

Common courtesy will get you a long way in everyday life and in B&P offers too.

I'd send it back with a note inside saying the show is off your hard drive and it's unfortunate that THEY didn't follow-up in a timely manner. Not your problem as I see it.

But then I'm kind of a butthead so what do I know?

I agree with Denza. This shouldn't be WORK for the person offering the b&p. I've still got some packages for people here that are collecting dust b/c they didn't send me the proper cdr or postage. I let'em know, & haven't heard from them since. No big deal, but there is probably a person that didn't get in on the offer.

And also, if a person offers.... say five shows..... it means FIVE shows. Not ten. Not five & a half. If you still want it, ask on the thread if anybody will re-offer it. A trade maybe, but...

Nobody wants to be an a-hole, but it also isn't that hard to be one either.

Cool thanks fellas! (and fell-ettes)!

Pammy, you are just too damn good. i was leaning toward buring the show for the fella too, but i don't know where the damn thing is (i think i leant it to HCG); but instead he's getting a note. i feel like a butthead but oh well! 2 months is a bit excessive. i will send his blanks back and the DB show he sent me too.

i never, ever see this person online anyway, so god only knows how often they check their pm's.

thanks again everyone, what a great bunch!

In the spirit of this thread, I'm gonna offer a freebie here for the first to post here that they want it. I received a box of goodies from Brother GPM awhile ago and to paraphrase The Band, I'll "take what I need and leave the rest". I make no guarantees as to quality, playability etc. as I have not listened to it, but its free so give it a try if you want it. I'll offer up more later. This will go out in Friday's mail.
