I was curious what you all think about this topic. Often times, these 3 are overlooked as songwriters because of the band's reputation for marathon jams. Regardless, as far as I'm concerned, these guys are as prolific as any rock songwriters, save MAYBE only Lennon/McCartney, Springsteen and Dylan.

Thoughts?

Prolific probably isn't the right word.

I see them as musicians that happen to write some good songs. They aren't really songwriters in the vein of the people you mentioned.

Stevie Wonder...Smokey Robinson... Van Morrison...Joni Mitchell... heck, even a Lowell George. Gene Clark. Gram Parsons. Hmm... the list is growing.

I don't even think Gregg, Dickey, & Warren are in the vein of someone like George Harrison.

Gregg's written, what, a dozen songs that were released in the last 20 or so years? Born To Run had just about that many by itself, and they all were killer. Prolific is not the word for Gregg.

Definitely! They did a skit on him on Family Guy that was absolutely hilarious.

And the late, beloved Warren Zevon.

Better put Paul B and Bill Payne from Little Feat in there too. I always loved their songs.

Yeah, I guess prolific is the wrong word, especially for Gregg.

Coward...

Yurtle, you coward. Leave the thread be and talk to me directly. Specifically at the Beacon or some other NYC gathering, when you don't have miles and miles of Internet cable to protect you.

I warned you and you didn't listen... Now it's fair game.

Clay and I talked about a Beacon pre-show in 04... maybe who knows

You want direct you, Good for nothing sack of dung- answer pm's the first time, don't make somebody call you out.

You don't want to start no farking sh!t with me, cause I ain't got time for retards like you, no I take that back because it insults the mentally challanged.Mail the damn cd's and this will be over, but don't think your gonna hang out like it's all cool.

You have threatened me in a very cowardly way, twice now. Over what, posting a fair warning--Stay Away From Frank... & asking if starting 3 threads a day is prolific, and if that is a good thing.

Sure I'm poking you with a stick, but over a year ago you got your shows-- as expected. I'm still waiting on satisfaction. don't say the package is the mail in a "few" weeks in mid July, then say the same thing 3 months later. That is a characteristic of a lying scumbag.

Mail all packages to J.R.Griffin

You can stick clay's video in as well I'll make SURE he gets it

Better add Neil Young to the 'save MABYE' file ......

he's got a ton of things, whole complete albums even, that have not seen the light of day.

As far as the ABB guys, I think they wrote some great stuff. Obviously you'd like to see more of it, but I'd take quality over quantity.

Absolutely hilarious.

Can't really follow what's going on initially, but little by little.... it all comes together.

Anyhoo Frank,

ALOT of names above that have been more productive songwriters than the ABB. Gregg, Dickey, & Warren really aren't overlooked. Well, Warren writes alot it seems, but doesn't have THAT song or song(s).....
