I was just downloading a Mark-Almond show on Dime and I saw the seeders notes that Johnny Almonds death was just recently revealed even though he died a month or so ago.

If anyone was a fan of Mark-Almond; what a great Band, or the Turning Point by John Mayall, you know what a tremendous talent he was.

I can't seem to find anything on his death...

Back when my LP collection was right at hand, the purple Mark-Almond LP got regular play. Great jazz and nice easy going music.
Hope John is sitting in clean pair of Levis, at the bridge by the bay. Real talented player.
RIP Johnny.

Always liked John Almond since the first Bluesbreakers album. His interplay with Clapton on Have You Heard, and Double Crossing Time (his baritone sax sounds like a double tracked guitar) are remarkable. Saw Mark Almond a number of times, my favorite was when they were supposed to do an afternoon appearance at Brooklyn College and their instruments didn't arrive, so they played a show with instruments borrowed from the school's Orchestra.

RIP

He was part of the horn section on Fleetwood Mac's "Stop Messin' Round" off the Mr Wonderful & English Rose albums.

I always liked that Mark-Almond tune "The City". (especially the long album version...that they rarely played on the radio)

RIP Johnny.

First I've heard about this. Always loved Mark-Almond band and enjoyed their work with Mayall. Thanks for sharing that notice, emr ... sounds like he was a good man in addition to being a talented muscian.

Me too, chili...

The whole purple LP was great.
Liked the flip top lid vs the side exit idea.
