Has anyone listened to any of the Beacon 40th anniversary cds? I'm thinking of ordering a few from hittinthehote.com & I'm curious to know if the sound quality is any good. I'm wanting to order the March 20 show with Clapton, & the March 26 show with the first 2 albums being played. Please let me know, thanks. |

I have the Beacon Box and that's what I've been listening to for the last couple weeks and I can say without a doubt the CDs sound FANTASTIC!!!
Obviously the music is good, but, yes, the sound quality is wonderful.
Thanks to everyone at HTN for getting this out to us!

The sound quality is great. I went to three shows (3.10, 3.13 & 3.21) and picked up three shows (3.14, 3.20 and 3.23) and they are pretty amazing. The Kingpins appearance is a huge highlight for me on 3.23, but the 3.14 show might be my favorite - Randy Brecker really brought it, "Dreams" and "In A Silent Way" are something else entirely. The shows I went to all had their highlights, but I definitely always manage to pick the wrong nights to go - I've missed the Kingpins by 1 night TWICE and missed both Clapton shows. ____________________ http://www.porkchopbob.com/ | http://www.brettbob.com/ |

For $27 a pop + what has always been ridiculous shipping & handling per show in the past, bite me. |

It is a bit steep, but these are 3-disc collector's items. There's always the downloads for $15 at abblive.com. ____________________ http://www.porkchopbob.com/ | http://www.brettbob.com/ |

Wow!!! Thanks for that info!!!! I didn't know they were available for download. Much better value. I can make my own artwork if I want. Gonna get three Beacon shows and the Mansfield show from the summer. ____________________ Pete

That is very refreshing. I have a friend, dying for the Clapton shows, that will appreciate the download prices. They certainly haven't been available like that for long. |

I know what you mean about shipping , I live in Canada and ordered 2 cds and the booklet and was charged $13 shipping , now that is steep for a small package . ____________________

It is called a "RIP-OFF" plaine & simple
I am sure it did not cost anywhere near $13 to send you 2 digipacks

It seems a little steep but they do have to pay someone to pick & pack the CDs. They have to pay for packaging materials too. I'm assuming this work is all done in the USA. And as a victim of out-sourcing - my job is being given to the Filipinos in February - I'm glad they have the ability to employ Americans and every CD we buy helps keep them employed. HTN is a fairly small company and may not get the big discounts some major companies get on materials and shipping costs. There may be other costs I'm forgetting but I used to do purchasing for a small printed circuit board company and I know things often cost more than expected.
So, if you order two 3 disc sets and have to pay $27 each + $13 for shipping you still are only paying around $11 per disc and someone gets to keep their job. ____________________ Do not panic!
