Why don't all 3 of these bands tour together? It would just make sense from a logistics standpoint and a fan point of view? I wonder why they have never done a full blown tour with all 3 bands? Heck, I would even pay a few bucks more to see that? I am sure there is a good reason they have not done it, I just can't figure out what it is?

I would say...

a) It would be a very long night for Derek & Warren

b) The crowd wouldn't be more than what the ABB would draw touring on their own, but the money would be split many more ways so it would be much less of a profit.

a. The boys are still young

b. El greedo strikes again. (I did say I would pay more)

They are young, but that's a lot to ask of them night in and night out for a few months at a time.

Oh, I'd pay more too.

I'm just giving you two likely reasons why that tour hasn't happened and probably won't as much fun as it would be to see.

They would each have to water down and shorten their sets. I would rather see each of these bands separately. Especially Mule. I have grown accustomed to my two sets and 2 1/2+ hours of Mule. It's always a bummer when you get a one set Mule show. The two set ABB Beacon shows are also awesome.

In 06, the ABB had Oteil and the Peacemakers and dTb open, at least in Atlanta they did. Great show that was!

I don't like opening acts for my ABB shows. I want "An Evening with..."

I like the full 2 1/2-3 hour show with just them.

While I think Panic is ok, I wish the 40th anniversary tour was just An Evening with...

In 06 I saw the Mule open for the Brothers and it was a great night, much better (for my, your mileage may vary) than seeing Panic this last tour

The ABB plays bigger venues than their solo members, more or less, I think.

I saw Derek open for the ABB a few summers back (with Petty) and it was wonderful, but I am assuming the ABB will be laying low, as announced; however, in the absence of ABB, I think it would be GREAT if some of the "family" did tour as a double-bill. I could see Derek/ Mule or Derek/DB & GS, for example.

Back in the 1980s, there were some dates where it was Gregg & band touring with Dickey & band, each doing a set and then doing a joint encore, right?

I saw Oteil & the Peacemakers, The Derek Trucks Band, Gov't Mule (with Dave Mason) and The Allmans all in one day at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2005 and it was pretty epic. Great but not the best sets from everyone, but great to hear all 4 in one day, but it was about 7 hours of work for them. Warren is already the hardest working man in the music biz with 3 bands, I can't imagine them all being able to find venues or enough concert goers to make that happen for a whole tour.

Come to Wanee, although not a "tour" ... all your dreams will come true.

I was at the Beacon Big House show in 2005 and the line up was basically that plus Oteil and Jaimoe's bands.

It was a stellar evening but I don't think it would work as a tour. I think Warren and Derek enjoy their time away from the ABB machine.

I believe it was 2006 they did this very thing. Mule opened for ABB part of the tour , DTB opened for ABB the other part. I saw the Mule opening part of the tour twice, once in Green Bay and in Chicago.

I don't ever want to see Mule open for anyone. Two sets is a necessity.

I agree with the necessity of two sets. My favorite Mule shows are usually held in dark, seedy venues, like Liz Reeds in Macon and the Moon in Tallahassee. The Tabernacle is also a fitting venue and I look forward to the coming show in the Capitol Theatre in Davenport, Iowa.

Literally my only problem with Wanee is that I never can stay awake/sober enough to see EVERY band I want to. I've never forgiven myself for missing Junior Brown!

warren is not getting any younger himself and besides the days for the ABB are pretty much over IMHO They will continue to do a NYC run and wanee fest but that is about it.Gregg should focus on his band and get working on a new album I would love to see him get jack pearson into his band, that would be worth it
