So, any rumors about Dickey ever returning to ABB or is that bridge burnt beyond repair?

This is the burning question for your "first post" you have been waiting to ask?
I tend to think that you want to try to stur the proverbial pot a little again around here.
I have no inside information to add to the discussion.

naw, visited here a lot, was registered under another name and forgot the password, so re-registered. Just sitting here working an listening to a mixed collection of ABB and it just strikes me the band sounds very different when Warren and Derek are playing and when Dickey is playing. One is not better than the other, just different. I love Derek's solo work, Govt Mule, to me at least, is a bit more hit and miss. I have to admit I have not really listened to Betts' more recent solo work but would have to say the older Great Southern was also hit and miss.

There's no shot. If Dickey were going to play with the Brothers again, it would have happened during the 2009 Beacon run when the Brothers brought out all sorts of guests in honor of the band's 40th anniversary. Whether or not an invitation was extended I don't know. Similarly, I don't know if Dickey declined any such invitation.

The Brothers seem content with the present lineup. Going forward, it appears they will scale back their touring during the summer. To what extent isn't clear but it appears as if 2009 was their last year of prolonged touring. So it seems unlikely they would bring him back under these circumstances. Again, this is purely conjecture on my part. The only possiblity I could see might be whenever the Brothers play their last show. Maybe Dickey makes an appearance at that time? It is unlikely but that is all I can come up with.

This subject has come up a lot over the years and some people on the site feel that is a dead issue. For the most part I agree with them. That being said, since you are new to the site, you shouldn't feel like its a silly question. I would have asked the same question with my first post.

While that horse has been beaten, I found out on this site that Dickey was no longer with the band (well, actually the old site) and that was the first thing I wanted to talk about, too.

Fair enough, but even rain man knows that 9 years is a long time...

I suspect that as the ABB tours less and less and the band members go off on their own solo ventures, your most likely bet of anything close to a reunion would be seeing some sitting-in occurring between Dickey and Warren or Dickey and Derek.

I'd like to see Dickey on one of the outdoor tv programs. Bill Dance or O'Neill Outside.

Both of those events have already happened.

I would have thought that anyone who visited here a lot would already have seen the many threads concerning this but maybe not.

I haven't slept with Tiger either - that makes 3 of us.

These events HAVE happened and MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. My point to a person who is new to posting here is that this sort of pairing will probably be the best hopes of anything like Dickey re-uniting with the ABB occurring. Thanks!
