you know the tales: womanizer, druggie, alcoholic..................then why do I feel, and always HAVE felt, even before he cleaned up, like I was in Church when I listened to him sing. This is one of life's great paradoxes and I'm not sure I have the answer for it.

I would like to point out that if tons of women then and now want to sleep with you.....you are not a womanizer.....you're one hell of a lucky son of a b*tch.

An equally unexplainable paradox is having rich old blues men singing the blues about never having any $

He is now officially a legend of rock. A huge rock star.

His private life is his own and I don't care.

I just adore him and spend a lot of money going to see him. Most of my vacations are "Gregg show" vacations.
Fortunately, my husband indulges me in this (well, he actually gets a little jealous and I just LMAO!!!). Besides,
I think Gregg is the best damn singer around and his shows are always fun.

well, look at the track record of preachermen and he fits right in......

as for rich singing the blues, that is indeed a paradox, however GA gets a pass on that one as he has huge tragedy of kin to carry to the last day, which money pales to.....

I do the same thing!!! Even the rock stars and bands I love the most, I don't make an effort to discover whom they slept with, how many drugs they've taken, how much time they spent in rehab or whatever. All the tabloid stuff is such a waste, as long as the music is good, I just don't care.

I don't care who Janis Joplin slept with or what drugs she used. Why should it matter? The only folks I have issues with are the ones who mess with children. It pisses me off everytime I hear that Gary Glitter tune at some sports event.

I am sure gregg has changed a lot in the last 10 years or so getting sober and his bout with hepc hittin the note was a major breakthrough for him and the band that really excited him.

Those of you who can open their closets and no bones at all fall out, congratulations.

I have listened to Gregg's music and been enamored with his use of language and melody for going on 40 years. I finally got the chance to meet him, shake his hand, and rap with him for a short bit. You know what? He couldn't have been more gracious or kind. I will be grateful for that forever. If I have the chance to talk with him again and he tells me to eff off, it won't erase his kindness that day.

Look for the good, not to tear people down.

Well, it should be all about the music. The rest is just the rest. I don't know why people get sucked into all the side stuff. Let the music and musicianship speak for themselves. Gregg writes, sings, and plays great music and is a talented musician.

I am with you 100% on that. Gary Glitter is a convicted child molester.

REALLY old news, and IIRC, Gregg and Scooter reconciled their friendship after SH's release from prison. Gregg was between a rock and a hard place and was an addict at the time.

Well, I'm no angel either, so I try to not judge others' personal lives.

Plus, my only direct experience with Gregg is his music, and if that's any insight to his person, he's not all bad

And thanks for your last statement

This thread at times has veered off in a direction I never intended. But I think most here got the spirit of my statement: Gregg sings with more true emotion than anyone else I can think of. Yet at times all the press he's gotten (especially in the 70's and 80's) has been about his personal failings.

Musicians or sports figures render a service, just like most of the rest of us. I can appreciate that they perform their job well, without worrying about how they conduct their personal lives. I'd rather fly on a plane with a morally bankrupt, but highly skilled, pilot than a poor one who is a saint.
