One of our favorite things to do at the Hittin' The Note office is to work with the Tour Mystic and the Allman Brothers Band to come up with the annual selection of the West Best and West Best El Grande Packages. For those of you not familiar with this, the West Best Package is 6 of the best shows from the ABB Summer/Fall tour for the price of 5. Given how impossible it is to narrow down the selection to just 6 shows we also have the West Best El Grande Package which is 12 of the best shows for the price of 10.

After countless hours of listening to every ABB concert from May through October and many more hours of debating the finer points of each nominee we finally have a consensus! The shows for the 2009 West Best are...drum roll please...

Oakland 5/13/09
Mansfield 8/29/09
Chicago 9/01/09
Morrison 9/05/09
Charlotte 10/04/09
Clearwater 10/21/09

and West Best El Grande

Oakland 5/13/09
Mansfield 8/29/09
Chicago 9/01/09
Morrison 9/05/09
Charlotte 10/04/09
Clearwater 10/21/09
Wantagh 8/27/09
Hartford 8/30/09
Columbia 10/06/09
Birmingham 10/09/09
Knoxville 10/13/09
Houston 10/17/09

Anyone here go to both Knoxvile and Nashville shows? I had a hard time deciding which was best and would enjoy hearing other opinions.

Interesting.

The Canandaigua show in 08 made the West Best six.

I thought that this year's show was better than last year, especially with the WSP sit-in guests.

Joe,
Are Mansfield 8/29/09 and Chicago 9/1/09 back in stock yet?

The 9/1 Chicago show was great. Buddy Guy and Dave Mason sit-ins? It was just amazing.
