Gregg has always done the hell out of this tune. The version on The Gregg Allman Tour is amazing, makes the Dead's best version sound like a high school cover band.

One of my favorite concert experiences was going to Atlanta for New Year's 2005. Susan opened for Derek both nights, the 30th and 31st. Derek had a horn section for the shows. On the 31st, Gregg sat in for two songs, FEEL SO BAD which they dedicated to the recently deceased Little Milton. The other song was an absolutely blistering version of LOVELIGHT. Susan sat in and she and Gregg traded off vocals, the horns were awesome and of course, Derek's blistering slide made this an absolutely amazing song.

There are great copies of these shows floating around trading circles. I highly recommend them.

This got me thinking of other versions so I pulled out the Gregg Allman One More Try Anthology. There's a version on there from the rehearsals for the famous '74 Gregg Allman Tour. At one point in the song, Gregg says "sorry" (guess me missed something). Vocals sound a bit muted to me, but still a good listen.

Rain is my favorite from that album. I think he played that twice at the Beacon a few years ago but unfortunately, those were nights I wasn't there.
