I'm stirothersll mesmerized.... Boz Scaggs and the Jukes were off the chart and Bruce Wilis was very respectable...However the Brothers on this the 38th anniversary of the filmore were on another planet...Thats all I can say....

Hey efactor, I MUST agree.... Ground control to Major Tom, we have a giant Peach like space ship hovering over Manhattan... Dude, I LOVE Moogis! I went back this morning and watched them do Southbound with horns again and the whole Boz set and ...gulp... WHIPPING POST!!

First show of this year's run for us. We sat in the loge 2nd row near <shrug> Bruce Willis' girlfriend. Which leads in to this show.

The 1st set smoked. The kind of smoked that makes you think the night is young and the 2nd set would blow us away. Not so fast. The Beacon looks great. The Bathrooms are cleaner. The Dolan's security wasn't to bad though I did get a pat down. Didn't smell one ounce of smoke inside the theater all night. Very odd.

Highlights: 1st set only: Best Southband ever with fantastic horn section. Excellent Don't Keep Me Wonderin' and a new jam which had tremendous Derek influence. The jam was the 3rd tune of the night and was a full on all out fusion thing that felt like a 2nd set tune.

Lowlight: Bruce Willis standing on stage, putting a harmonica to his mouth once in awhile and us trying to figure out why we had the bad luck of seeing him BOTH times he's sat in at ABB/Beacon shows.

Lowlight: Loan Me a Dime was great but would have been enough Boz for me. He's a talented guy but 4 songs in the 2nd set is too many. The 2nd set had maybe 2-3 actual ABB song, the rest were covers including common Mule/Van Morrison Into The Mystic which, while nice, at that point of the 2nd set, I was waiting for Greg to break out a Dreams or somthing. Greg didn't sing much at all last night, Warren must have sung 4-5 songs easily. The 2nd set finally did end with a full length encore Whipping Post and when I looked down at my watch at the end, dumbstruck to find the show was over by 11:15! What? 8:30-11:15 with set break on a Friday night let alone the 13th??? What???

Overall: 1st set was a joy, a pleasure, loved every second with the best Southbound ever. 2nd set major let down in both special guests, song selection, show length.

See ya in 2 weeks!
