Hey y'all. I'd like to ask for some + vibes for my wife's 96 year old grandmother. It sounds like she may have come down with leukemia. I don't know when they'll know for sure, but she's in the hospital for tests and has had blood transfusions. It's not sounding too good for Grandma. Her name is Beulah Metheny. Thanks.

Wow ... 96 yrs then Leukemia ...

Beulah Methany sounds like a like a very nice country womans name. I'll bet she could cook. I had a aunt Beulah, that woman could cook!

Ayla, it just goes to show that cancer does not discriminate. My own grandmother got lymphoma at age 92. The doctors advised us that the treatment would kill her quicker than the disease, so she chose to let it run it's course. It probably only took 6 weeks from the time of her diagnosis to her passing, so it was a mixed blessing for all of us. I hated to see her go, but she had quality of life right up til the last 2 weeks. Beulah is a sweetheart, just like my own grandmother was (her name was Ruble.) My wife and I have both been blessed to have our grandmothers live long lives.

UPDATE - Grandma's hangin' in there and doing OK. They are going to treat her with oral chemotherapy. My wife talked to her and she said she sounded like she was doing good. I swear that lady is like the energizer bunny.

Bumping this back up to the top.

It appears Grandma is in her last hours. Maureen (my wife) has been on the phone several times in the last 24 hours with her aunt and cousin in MO and Grandma's having trouble breathing. We think (and it's not been confirmed as of yet) that she may be in congestive heart failure.

Keep my wife's family in your prayers. Even at 96 years of age, it's tough to face losing a grandparent.

Well, Maureen's grandma passed away early this morning. While we're all sad to see her go, 96 years is a GREAT life. She was never really infirm, so we have that to be thanksful for.

Rest In Peace Grandma Metheny. You were a real sweetheart.
