My oldest son (21) will be moving out. He has been working the Renaissance Fairs the past 2 years learning how to make swords (Blacksmithing). The guy who's been teaching him wants him to move to Texas, . (That's where this guy is from, we live in Ohio) so that he can show him how it's done at his home forge. Then they will hit the Renaissance Fair circuits across the country. I know it's a opportunity for him, to really learn his hobby - craft, He also does graphic design which he can free lance at. He said that he would probably be gone for at least a year.
He's a great kid, I've taught him well. Smart, kind hearted ...etc
But my heart is breaking !!!
I know in my head that we teach our children the best we can so that they can go out into the world and make it on their own. And it's a parent's job to let them go ....
But my heart is breaking !!!!!
How do you let them go with a smile on your face when it's tearing you up inside?

It a toughy Ayla. No reason to hold back the tears. You can smile and cry at the same time because he's going to go live his life . What better reason than there is than that to cry and be happy. This young man now going out into the world and experience it. He's following his hopes. Thats a beautiful thing, he's on his way to becoming a man.

Have him look me up if he's in the DFW area.

My son is involved with the Ren Fest thing in Kansas City. Is your son gonna make a stop there ? I may get a chance to get to KC one more time before the Ren Fest shuts down in KC for the year. I hope your son is there, I'll drop by the blacksmith area. By the way, at the Blacksmith area there is usually a guy from Cincinatti named Jem Moore ( I think) who plays the hammer dulcimer. He is one bad SOB on it. He isn't there everyweek but if he's there I stop and listen and shed a tear when he plays Recuerdos de Alhambra on his instrument.
