My brother attended Mercer law school in Macon back in 1971-74, and he has memories of the ABB from those days. He's been trying to identify someone associated with the band then, and we need y'all's help. I'll quote his query below:

"When I was at Mercer in law school 71-74; especially 73-74, I often went to a friend's apt in a large house in north Macon near me. In a garage apt on the same grounds there lived someone who was associated with the AB --because there was this huge truck-long like a transfer truck, that was always parked there-with the giant mushroom on the side, that evidently was used to carry their equipment and/or them on roadtrips.I would llike to know who that was--because he was in the inner circle and many times some of that entourage was there with him."

"The address of the house where the truck was parked was on Ridge Ave. on the east side, at or near the intersection of Albermarle; north of Belvedere; I believe. I lived on auburn Ave. at the time. Ridge Ave. runs parallel to Vineville Ave; one block to the east; in a north/northwest direction. This is north of Ingleside and Pio Nono, and south of Forrest Ave (Dr)."

Best I can tell, that puts the location of the apt. where the equipment truck stayed parked at the red star on the map of Macon below:

Zooming out, we have:

Please, please, does anybody out there know who this would have been? We would love to know!!

Well, for all I know, it could have been Tuffy Phillips, who drove the equipment truck at that time, or I could be totally wrong. Sorry I couldnt be more help!

I have the answer to your question. My brother, Twiggs Lyndon lived at that time on Ridge and the truck was parked in front of his apt. I have confirmed this with my brother, Skoots. Twiggs had ordered the truck to be the equipment truck for the band, but he had required that the truck be built with certain specs that were not normal for that model truck. By the time the band received the truck, the band had hit the big time and they needed tractor trailer trucks for the equipment, so they used this truck as a utility truck. Twiggs later purchased the truck (niicknamed Black Hearted Woman by the band) from the band. We have more info about the truck if anyone is interested.

LesPaul71 was close, as Tuffy was a driver, but that was Twiggs' apt. Tuffy's name was on one door of the truck and Twiggs name was on the other.

Thanks! I thought It sumed the band and crew up mightly well.
They were the rough and tuff bunch, when they had to be,(Like good ol' Tuffy and Kim's famous knocked Capricorn publicist down the stairs and a bottle in the face disaster) But they played such beautiful music, and were the most respectful people, if you gave it to them first.

Thanks for the post John. I used to see the truck while Twiggs was managing the Blues Band (Topper Price, Wick Larsen, Harold Floyd and Mike Connell)down in Mobile. It was an interesting vehicle to say the least and I'll bet some members would enjoy hearing about it. Post some more info if you have a chance.
Thanks

Yep, it had to be Twiggs. That truck was nicknamed Black Hearted Woman and it was bought from Twiggs' dad who worked at GMC dealership.
