Jimmy Page recently said he's heading back into Led Zeppelin's vaults for the band's 50th anniversary next year, and he noted there will be some previously unheard music to help celebrate.

In a new 50-minute video for the Academy of Achievement, Page was asked about Zeppelin's golden anniversary next year, and he said, “There’ll be Led Zeppelin product coming out, for sure, that people haven’t heard, because I’m working on that. Next year will be the 50th year, so there’s all manner of surprises coming out.”

You can watch the video above.

Page remastered the band's catalog for a series of expanded reissues that wrapped up in 2015. All nine Led Zeppelin studio albums, including 1982's leftovers set Coda, came with bonus discs that collected outtakes and other previously unreleased music from the era. An expanded edition of The Complete BBC Sessions followed in 2016.

At the time the remastered reissues came out, Page said that pretty much all of the band's studio outtakes were collected on the bonus discs, but there's definitely some still available (like the epic long version of "All My Love").

In October, Led Zeppelin News reported that engineer John Davis, who worked with Page on the remasters, posted a Facebook update that said: "Today I am mostly mastering Led Zeppelin." The post was deleted, but as Led Zeppelin News notes, the Page interview was filmed on Oct. 19, shortly before Davis' post, so when the guitarist says "I'm working on that," it could refer to unearthed music he's remastering with Davis.

Right now, it's unclear whether these previously unheard Led Zeppelin tracks will be more studio leftovers, like the majority of the bonus cuts found on the 2014-15 remasters, or live songs, since there's likely plenty of unreleased concert recordings in the band's vaults.

Unheard songs and unheard music has slightly different nuance to me. I suspect this will be Zep songs we have heard before, but unheard versions. Not completely 'new' songs we've never heard Zep play before.

Some live stuff from '69 to '77 would be nice.

There's some really good Zep SB boots out there.

I heard today it's yet another remixed compilation of material we've heard before....In other words the same thing Page has been doing for what seems like decades now.

I'd lay solid money that he's going to release a large batch of demos. Those have become big hits with collectors on anniversary editions with the bands that have been doing them.

Jsz, I did not hear much of the bonus stuff from the Zep discs. What I heard was enjoyable but not revelatory. I only heard a tiny fraction.

However, the lack of discussion that extra material generated makes me assume that the material wasn’t that wild.

How much of it will be a rip-off of American blues artists?

Yeah pretty much how I felt. IMHO, nothing to go bonkers about. A few cool things here and there, but that's about it.

I have given up hope on Jimmy.

speaking of Zep....

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/myles-kennedy-hopes-there-are-no-recording s-of-his-rehearsals-with-members-of-led-zeppelin/
MYLES KENNEDY Hopes There Are No Recordings Of His Rehearsals With Members Of LED ZEPPELIN

ALTER BRIDGE and Slash vocalist Myles Kennedy says that he hopes there are no recordings of his 2008 studio jam with the instrumental members of LED ZEPPELIN. Kennedy rehearsed and wrote music with guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham over the course of two sessions after Page and Jones were looking for a way to keep working following LED ZEPPELIN's incredible one-off performance at the O2 Arena in London in December 2007.

During a recent interview with radio personality Eddie Trunk, Kennedy revealed that no video was shot of the sessions but he said that he "has heard different accounts" about whether an audio recording of the rehearsals exists. He clarified, however, that the site of the jam "was not, like, a legit recording studio."

Surprisingly, Kennedy says that he would prefer it if his collaboration with the ZEPPELIN trio remained unheard by the general public. "I actually hope [it] didn't [get recorded], because I was actually pretty sick," he said. "I had come off a tour in Australia, and I remember I got there and I had bronchitis or something, and I remember it took a few days for my voice to come back. So I hope there is nothing that exists. [Laughs]"

Kennedy previously told VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" that he would "remember to [his] dying day" the rehearsals he had with Page, Jones and Bonham. "We played 'The Rain Song', which is probably my favorite LED ZEPPELIN song, 'No Quarter', 'Kashmir'. It was a lot of fun," he said.

Despite rehearsing several ZEPPELIN classics, Kennedy was quick to point out that the project, had it come to fruition, would never have been called LED ZEPPELIN. He explained told "That Metal Show": "I don't know if they knew what it was going to be. They just wanted to play… they wanted to put a project of some sort together. They weren't sure what it was, but it was never going to be LED ZEPPELIN with a new singer, I mean, obviously."

Kennedy told The Pulse Of Radio what it was like to play with the members of LED ZEPPELIN. "It was so surreal, it was just unbelievable," he said. "I spent the day there in a studio with those guys. playing songs, and next thing you know, I believe in September that year, we got together again and spent what I like to consider probably the greatest week of my life playing with those guys. And any time I'm having a bad day, I think about those days and suddenly everything feels a lot better 'cause I got to experience that."

Although there were rumors of staggering sums being offered to LED ZEPPELIN for a full tour after the O2 Arena concert, singer Robert Plant elected to continue with his solo career instead.

Page and Jones also tried out AEROSMITH's Steven Tyler and SOUNDGARDEN's Chris Cornell, with Page telling Rolling Stone in 2012: "Various people thought we should go on tour. I thought we needed a good, credible album, not do something that sounded like we were trying to milk the [reunion]."

Kennedy will release his debut solo album, "Year Of The Tiger", on March 9, 2018 via Napalm Records. The effort was helmed by ALTER BRIDGE's longtime producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette.

ALTER BRIDGE is expected to take most of 2018 off from the road while the bandmembers focus on other projects.
