Well i've been downunder for almost 2 months and get to go to my 1st concert tonight. We have 8th? Row seats i think. I'm not super familiar with the band but my girlfriend is. Here is a review of a show from last week.

I had tix to see them in September and it was canceled, I only saw them once in the early 90's at The Hip's " Roadside Attraction " and they absolutely blew me away , have fun .

Well that was....interesting. The venue was called AIS Arena, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIS_Arena . It is a Basketball Hall basically, like where most of us grew up seeing concerts back in the day. Holds around 4200. Only 3 spots to get beer or wine and about 20-30 min wait throughout the show, i did without. Merch sales were setup outside the venue, if i'd known that i would have gone up the night before and got me an Alice Cooper shirt. I wasn't going to pay $122-$500 to see Alice but a shirt would have been cool. Seems this is the venue for most concerts in Canberra. Security is extremely lax, to the point i might have been able to sneak in for free. Ok, thats all the background info.

As I said initially, I'm not real familiar with the music of Midnight Oil. I did understand they were a very political band going in but man, these guys made Neil Young's "Living with War" Tour seem tame. Alot of self hatred for the country, although it was kinda ironic watching the totally white audience, mostly over 40 crowd, eat this stuff up. As my girlfriend reminded me, most of these songs are 30 years old, so most love the songs, not the politics.

I'll try and find a review and set list later.

Great group - caught them in the 90s. Peter Garret is an interesting fellow, passed the bar at the same time he formed Midnight Oil, very up front re indigenous people's rights and environmentalism, won a Labor seat in the House of Representatives. Diesel and Dust is a fantastic record. Just heard Beds Are Burning on the FM just now going on a wonton soup run with the kid.

Saw them at the House of Blues in Chicago (small place) a few years ago and we were near the front. I did know their music, and they were great. Always one of my favorites.........

Hi Legalizhemp
I don;t know your movements while visiting Australia but another band who have had limited success in the US in the 80's who are very much worth seeing is the Church. Esp. for lovers of guitar based music. They are touring now but unfortunately not in Canberra as far as I can see. Which is ironic as they formed in Canberra in the late 70's. I'll try to post tour details below.
https://thechurchband.net/Our first headline tour since 2015 and in support of our new album ' Man Woman Life Death Infinity. Get tickets now. http://selecttouring.com.au/tours/the-church/.
