The CNBC article left out something.

"Allies cited overall increases to his agency's staff levels, which grew by 800 this year, as a factor driving the extra costs, calling the issue "not one that can be attributed to the current administration's protection requirements alone."

The WAPO article also stated: " Allies called the agency's current predicament, first reported by USA Today, "an ongoing issue for nearly a decade due to an overall increase in operational tempo."

Bullsh!t.

Are you calling the Washington Post bullsh!t?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/secret-service-says-it-will-run-out -of-money-to-protect-trump--and-his-family-sept30/2017/08/21/93d30132-868c- 11e7-961d-2f373b3977ee_story.html?utm_term=,1f21dc08556d

Read it and see who is spouting bullcrap
Fact of the matter is: Its never been this bad, until trump and his family of parasites started using secret service protection well in excess of the norm, for personal business and vacations. deny that.

Did you miss the part "an ongoing issue for nearly a decade"? You don't think that problem was caused by the Obama family going on vacation, personal trips by his family, and jaunts to Hawaii? Trump hasn't been president for ten years, but Obama was for the past eight.

The secret service is on pace to spend more protecting Trump in his first year than they spent for all 8 years for Obama, but by all means let's blame Obama anyway since you are apparently unable to criticise Trump for anything.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2017/02/22/trumps-family-trips-c ost-taxpayers-nearly-as-much-in-a-month-as-obamas-cost-in-a-whole-year/#411 b20d736e4

We could partially since Obama was in office for half of January.

Again, you want to blame Trump, even thought the same problem has come up for the past ten years.

It's not the same problem. It's the problem times 10. That's like saying havimg a 1 billion dollar deficit for 10 years is the same as having a sudden increase to a $10 billion deficit in a single year. Or having your tax bill increase by 10 times in a single year. Not the same problem at all, but let's blame Obama anyway even though he has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this.

Well if we can send them to Afghanistan, privatizing the military, they can privitize other parts of the govt. and probably do it cheaper. Sure Congress would have to vote on it and they can't get much done but considering all the opposition he has, he could have former military and/or others protect him for less than the Secret Service cost to do it.

Why would you think that would be cheaper? Why would you think that would work better? It would cost far more and push the responsibility to people untrained for the job. And, it would have to be approved by Congress and funded by Congress. It makes absolutely no sense.

I think it would be cheaper because several things can be done. First, Trump family members could stay only in his hotels around the country and world, (and are not charged for being there, they sleep for free and eat for free), and so should those who are protecting them. The Secret Service had to pay for staying and setting up a command post in Trump Tower, they should not have, why weren't they given free room and board? He owns the place, he could have done that.

Third, Blackwater trained personnel can work on a retainer basis not an hourly cost basis. Negotiate the fees for whatever event they are covering and providing services for. A flat fee for a weekend of accompanying someone is cheaper than an hourly rate. Plain and simple.

As for training, they take no crap from anyone, they train in the worst conditions, like other para military and military, they are better trained.

No, you are way off.

1. Trump will not let the Secret Service stay for free. He has already proven that. He likes to profit from his sidency. That, BTW, is a violation of the emoluments law.

2. Wait, you didn't have a two. You jumped to three.

3. Presidential protection is a 24/7 job. They are present wherever Trump, his family and anyone else they protect is located. This includes the White House. There can be no "on call" situation. And Blackwater training is completely different from protection work. If that was al that was needed, we could rotate US Army members through the job. Secret Service protection duty is far more complicated and labor intensive than you realize.

Not only is Trump not providing the secret service with free room and board in Trump Tower, he is charging them over twice what he is charging other tenants for similar space. Trump is definitely nickel and diming the US government as much as he can. Trump empire first. US taxpayers way down the list somewhere.

Still not one lefties has a clue as to what the regulations are that apply to this matter and how are they adaptable for the circumstances.

The Secret Service Director explained that they have many options to deal with the regulations and related funding. The corrupt liberal media and the far-left hate group here did not mention that.

The Executive Branch can, and does under every administration, move funding around as that deem necessary and as the Secret Service Director said the USA article omitted much of what he actually said. The corrupt liberal media and the far-left hate group here did not mention that.

Just another nonsense manufactured hit-piece buy the corrupt liberal media and their far-left extremists lemmings here in the W/P bought it again.

You are dishonest to your core Comrade Muleski. It this were Obama's family spending this money and profiting off the Presidency you'd be having a stroke.

You are a liar Sir. Just like your traitorous, weak, lying Donald Trump.

Number 2 was that they should not have had to pay for the command post in Trump Tower. But I read recently that they left there due to the cost.

With regard to 3. something needs to be worked out. Obviously there needs to be some staff that are around him all the time, but then others who are only needed at other times. Anytime he goes somewhere, there have to be more people than the ones who are normally around him because the White House is pretty much a contained environment. He has his routines and regular schedules.

Maybe he should take advantage of Camp David for its setup, proximity, and purpose. On the other hand, it might present a more difficult challenge for President Emoluments to make money as a businessman and on the backs of taxpayers.

Why would Trump want to be president if he can't make a fortune off it?

Why has anyone in the past 40 years been president except to make money?

Of course they leverage their service to make money....But while actually serving as President some office holders have a passion to govern and improve the lives of others. The two are not necessarily exclusive. Trump, it seems to me at least, is serving primarily to enrich himself, his family, and to feed his huge ego. I consider this fact to be pretty evident given his behavior and lack of following long standing rules regarding conflicts of interest, divestiture of assets, etc.

Now, with regard to the fiscal health of the Secret Service, to be fair, Trump has racked up tremendous bills for security of not only himself but his numerous adult children. But there are other factors as to why the Secret Service is stretched a bit thin in the fiscal dept. One big one is the fact that we have many president still alive and breathing and they require security expenditures for not only themselves but many of their adult children.

There are numerous reasons to criticize Trump and his henchman, but security expenses are the least of them...

Many celebrities have quite capable security detail men/teams, maybe the past President's families could use some celebrity protection people and save us some money; or even pay for it themselves, how about that?

How many of those celebrity body guards would take a bullet to save their celeb? very few. Every Secret Service person would do it gladly.

Really, give it up. You have no clue.
